Honoring Officers Killed in the Year 2007

As we start the new year please take a minute to remember those who were taken from our ranks in 2007. It was a BAD year.

I remember when the Bobbys in England did not carry guns, because there was no need. England at that time had reasonable gun laws, but the criminal element recieved sever punishment if they used a firearm in a crime of on a law in forcement person.

180 law in forcement people is a lot, there was 147 in 2006, 161 in 2005, 163 in 2004. Not all were in the line of duty, but the price they paid for just doing there job was high.

Did you notice the main 2 cause's of death were gun fire and auto accidents ?
Haveing been a Father of an LEO those 2 causes are what made me worry the most.
That is sad.

My dad knew a police officer (family friend) who died (this year) from a drunk driver. He was making a U turn (on one of those dirt ones I believe) on a high way the drunk guy was going over 100 and slammed right into his car.

We just lost a Deputy here in Ky. Units were in pursuit of two juveniles in a stolen car, the Deputy was stopped on the opposite side of the roadway (seperate two lane hwy.) when the driver of the stolen car crossed over and T-boned him. Killed him and his K-9. Two kids, wife is pregnant with his 1st boy. KSP has been transporting the two juveniles to court, one of the Troopers who transport the one that was driving says hes cocky, 17 yrs old. Thinks hes some kind of gang banger from New York or Maine. And to think he lived through the collision?

No Maine officers lost their lives, thankfully.

I feel sorry for the families of those fallen officers though.
