I don't think he was patient enough; he should've turned down that offer and waited for a lower one.
But they probably did him a favor (on purpose) with that $145.00 for damaging the tire. If the dirtbag who owns the car took the money it counts as a civil settlement, and he can't come back on the guy and sue him now.
I paid my wife's ex-husband sixty bucks for a doctor's visit, after he sic'ed the Sheriff on me for punching him in the teeth years ago. He was totally PO'ed when he found out later he couldn't sue me because he'd already accepted payment...
