I'm doing a personal opinion poll for this lubricant called Gun Butter. I'm posting it in both the General Rifle and the General Handgun forums because I didn't find a Cleaning and Maintenance forum.
So, with that said, has anyone used the product called Gun Butter? If so, what do you think about it? It is on the pricey side so what is your opinion based on it as far as cost versus the job it does?
I know what Duct budder is,but I never heard of Gun butter. What is it and what's it do ?
Tell us more !!!
I might need to get some...A.H
AH, it is a lubricant for firearms. I discovered it while browsing the internet. Never heard of it myself nor have I ever seen it at any of the gun stores I frequent or the internet places I order firearm products from. So I've decided to see if anyone else has heard of or used it.. Here is the link to the Gun Butter website.
Well fellow shooters this is what I've decided to do about this Gun Butter based on a reply from a company rep..
I attempted to simply request a "small sample" ( because I just wanted to try it and it isn't cheap) maybe enough to do 1 handgun and 1 rifle, each 1 time, and the reply was, that this is why we made and now offer the smaller pen oiler, which by the way is still $8.95 for a mere 1/4 fl. oz.+ S&H.
I made it a point to mention about the pros getting samples and in the reply it stated that they, the pros, personally asked for it. Well I'm sorry, but, I'm not stupid. I know pros, actors and athletes alike get things given to them to try in return for their opinion/s and or endorsement.
I also read the links to the pro shooters that the site has/uses for endorsements and copy and pasted some of them into my reply back telling this person to please not insult my intelligence. I showed him where Todd Jarrett stated he gets stuff sent to him constantly asking him to try it. I showed him where Lisa Munson said she was asked to try it and sent a few other quotes. None of which said out right, after asking for a sample of this stuff called gun Butter and being sent it blah blah blah...
So if any of you decide to try it, let me know what you think. As I told this rep. I think since what I've been using for about 10yrs. now is working and continues to work fine, that for now I'll just stick with it!

P.S. I also stated I didn't expect a sample, not even a small one. But it don't hurt to ask.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
I picked up a Berreta 1935 .32 auto a month ago, good pistol needing some TLC. After a thorough cleaning, and what I thought a good lubing, it still didn't have the "pazzaz" to cycle rounds into battery and fire without stumbling. Along came the Gun Butter! This little piece works like the Berreta's are supposed to now! Amazing stuff!! I've got new springs for it ordered, will have them in place and will let you know how it works then. Thes other folks can keep their CLP, this stuff and Gun Butter Grease are the only thing on my bench now. Thanks
I think it’s good stuff. The thicker consistency make it stick, say for rubbing down a bolts and such. Kind of like car wax. Let it sit for a while then wipe off.
I still use other cleaners but I keep a tube in my cleaning box.
The tube states that it is Food Grade Rated (?!?) and it also smells good.
Toast anyone?
It isn't thick but, they make grease too. And not to be raising the dead but, I can tell you from first hand experience Gun Butter is the finest firearm lubricant in the known universe. If used as prescribed, it will not fail. And you stay in the fight(literally and metaphorically). You will not have lube related failures.
When you use GB for the first time the very first thing you notice is the absence of friction of moving parts on the weapon(firearm).Whether you use it on a brand new piece to the well seasoned sidekick. On new, it aids in the break-in period , on older it breathes new life. I have turned people on to this stuff that have fedback that it actually makes them shoot better. I guarantee, if you use as prescribed, you will change your cleaning supplies. The reason I keep saying 'as prescribed' is because, like me, it doesn't play well with stupid. And it is just stupid to try and 'mix' or use over top of or in conjunction with any other oil/lube. GB won't collect dirt, dust, sand, etc. nor will it allow adhesion of fouling. It kills corrosion and rust (I live in salt central(OBX) NC, and that is very important to me!!!). It won't freeze or thicken up in sub zero temp's as well as stays put under the most demanding fire (If you think you are rougher or more demanding on your weapons than the United States Navy SEALs...).
Check out their site: | Gun Butter
read some feed back comments. especially the US Special Forces users!!!
wow, ive never before seen a claim that lubricant makes someone shoot better!
I was kind of amused at first with the claim so, I inquired. It seems that with the firearm lubed with GB made such a difference in friction loss (which inherently effects felt recoil. actually reduces it!) he was actually able to get back on target faster! The guy I am referring to is a good friend (he and I regularly compete against one another at the range) so I know it's not fictitious and he is really in touch with his weapons...
By the by. Gun Butter even performs incredibly in manual weaponry (pump guns and bolt actions). 'Hows that' you ask? It reduces the amount of force required to make things move and in bolt actions increases lock speed reducing 'lock time' (you bench rest guys know what I'm talking about and how important it is)

If you scroll down the link you posted on the Gun Butter Website you can see the lube video by Tactical Response which is an awesome training company Ive taken a couple classes with.
Tactical Response actually advocates grease, specifically high temperature lithium (not white lithium) wheel bearing grease over oil and from taking that notion and putting it into practice during 4 days and 3,000 rounds of pistol carbine training i can say that it works very well. Extremely well. My AR15 was red hot, soaking wet, muddy and dirty and it never failed.
Grease will stay were you put it, and won't seep out though all holes and seams/cracks in your guns and it won't burn off like oil will either.
As to the You Tube Vid they use a Gun Butter product in the vid but Yeager states that its just something they had in the store (video was filmed in their store) but if you ever talk to their instructors they will tell you that while products like Gun Butter grease and a couple other similar brands work well and better over the oil, for the same price as a small syringe of Gun Butter you can buy a whole giant tub of what is pretty much the exact same thing in the auto parts store.

My opinion: If you are sure that your product is so revolutionary, or so superior, you would boost sales with samples. I'll stick with what works.
