Firing pin not firing

I've read the debate on the JC Higgins Model 10 recall and decided to keep my bolt and shoot the gun. Problem is, the firing pin just puts a small dimple on the primer. I wiped it down and lubed it the other day and it worked fine. Took it out rabbit hunting yesterday and no bang...... The bolt is in good shape with no rust or tarnish on the outside. Any ideas on this one?

I can extend the pin and it lools like it comes out far enough. It sticks out farther than it is wide. It shot great when it did then nothin. Do the springs go bad?

How cold was it when you were hunting? Some gun lubes gum up in really cold conditions. When I go out in really cold for hunting I lube my gun with graphite powder instead of grease or oil. Pay particular attention to the raceway for the firing pin.

Uncle Red,
It was pretty darn chilly here Tuesday morning and the bolt was out in my truck overnight. I heard a click and it dented the primer, just not enough to set it off.
Two-70,
A buddy of mine thought it might be the spring too. I'm going to, with his help, try to get it open and check it out.
Thanks again for the input,
Dave

OK, just came back in from testing it, it shoots fine. I tried 3 Winchester shells then 3 Federals and all shot fine. The difference is the bolt has been in the house and warm. I sent Charlie O'Connell an email asking about this and he thinks the bolt is gunked up inside causing my problems with the cold. He also told me that the gun was made in 1952, I can't believe how good of shape it's in for being 55 years old! I'm guessing that the pin has not been cleaned in that long.
