New Sigs for our police dept.

We are getting new Sig 229's in March. What are your thoughts/experience with them? I've owned several Sigs in the past and loved them.

Our only choices were the smith m&p and glock 22 both in 40,
we went with the smith, the sig would be on my short list.

We've been using the Beretta 96 in .40 S&W for the last 10 years. They have worked out well, but are past their life expectancy. Also they are a little thick in the grip for shooters with smaller hands.

Plus, my department wants to go double action only, hence the Sig 2289 DAK selection. And finally we get a gun equipped with night sights.

You will love your night sights... and with the Sig P229, you simply cannot go wrong. They are very reliable and very accurate. Their "pointability" is amazing, you will enjoy this gun on the line as they are very fun to shoot.

I own a Sig Sauer P229 "Equinox" in .40 and love this thing. An advantage with this gun is that with a simple barrel change, and you can shoot the hotter .357 Sig round... a nice bonus.

As a PD gun, you may even find yourself wanting one for your own personal use.
