I don't know but I would not be digging that stuff up. Even old it may still go bang.
Or maybe looking for some more Mosin-Nagants to ship to us.

They dig up tons of stuff. Some is very well preserved. They even find bodies still mostly intact. I saw video where they dug a luftwaffe pilot out of a peat bog. He was still clothed and looked "great" for being dead more than six decades. There is a lot of stuff on youtube.

If it is a land mine common since would tell you to leave it a lone and tell the goverment where it's located.
If I found something like that I would get away from it...A.H

Looks like an anti-tank mine.

I do believe you're right, a mine. An old teller mine maybe? You wouldn't catch me within a mile of that. Our armorers in the battalion told us to leave that old munitions alone when we were on Guam. They said that junk gets real spooky after lying around for so many years. So I listened real good(for the first time?). Scotty

Could have dug up his four leaf clover?

I don't know what type mine he has but the diameter and lack of depth possibly suggests anti-personnel. This is a very dangerous way to spend the day - slamming shovels into the ground where unexploded ordnance exists (even from sixty years ago).

Part of me says that is really cool, but another part of me says the guy should leave the stuff where it lies.

Thanks to all for your opinions,my bet is we get to see ol rusky blown sky high on you tube at some point in the future,I am somewhat envious of being able to dig up cool relics and stuff but when its all mixed in with old high explosives and god knows what I think I would be a little reluctant to go shovelling away like crazy egor!! he goes at it as if he was in a turnip patch!!
I guess my next question is what is a teller mine?
Regards.

I believe, and I'm probaly wrong, that a teller mine was used against armored vehicles.
