hounds

Seabee: sir; thankyou.
Walking behind hounds teaches you lots. Patients, love and consideration.
Walking behind some folks; just doesn't work out.

Hurting a dog; is like hurting a child. God didn't intend it that way

Considerations; goes a long way.

Scotty 20 years ago dealing with these trespassers would had been a different ball game. I would have said drop a pigmy in there truck or torch it. But as times are, that isnt a smart way to go. The way your going is probably the best and T2K had some pretty good advice as well. The law here in TN is if your going to hunt on property that is not yours, you must have written permission and on you while you hunt.
I got lucky and my apprentice's granpa has 100 acxres so I'll be out there with out being bothered. The only thing we got left is spring turkey, and then small game. But we got feral hog year round and I really like pig.

You've got to have written permission in Arkansas if your not family members or get a ticket.
That is to hunt on someones land...A.H

Not necessarily for trespassers vehicles only, but I've heard that roadkill is wonderful stuff to hide in someone's car/pickup. Nothing like a really dead possum behind a pickup seat or a 'coon up under the dash. On a hot summer day.

Seems like I also read once about "booby traps" that used trip wire and 30-06 or 12 ga. blanks. Reckon one of those would scare the bejeezus out of ya.

Rondog, any kinda booby trap will get you in deep doo-doo with the authorities! A big chain across any access will stop most, and if you have livestock on the property, an electric wire is legal. Got ahold of one of those when I was a kid, and to this day, I don't touch strange fences! Scotty

I still own land in Oklahoma. I have signs on my fences that say, " Bob's Rottweiler and Rattlesnake Farm". Never had a problem with folks or dogs. Apparently even the dogs can read! LOL!

Our State Game and Fish Commishion can enforce Traspassing laws now in 2 ways.
You must have written permission from the owner of the property and the land owners and or leasee must paint the property lines with Purple Paint.
Purple Paint means Posted in Arkansas.
You can put up all the No Trespass signs you want to but the paint says it all.
If a state wildlife officer catchs you on posted land without permission it an automatic big ticket...A.H

On the farm I grew up on we always had (still do) problems with the neighbors crossing lines. One night my brother and I did some night "target practice" with the British .303 and his .30-06. Didn't work. The next night they lost their coon dog. No, we didn't shoot it. More like a dog-napping. Kept it muzzled for 3 days and then turned it in to a different county's dog warden. Never did get it back.
We also strung barbed wire 4 inches high when they was snowmobiling. Since it was an old fenceline we just used rusty wire. Two nights later we heard a ruckus and went out the next morning to find a lot of broken parts and oil all over. Stopped them for about 2 years but now that it is only our retired parents living there they have returned. Low mentality offspring have inherited the next door farm. I told Mom if needed I'd pay them a visit but instead I taught her how to shoot my .22 "for groundhogs". She told them she thought the mutt in her barn was an overgrown groundhog and they needed to come get the body. No more dog problem but now they hunt in the back fields without permission.

Scotty LOL...LOL !!! You got a Good Point there. A Trespasser could claim color blindness !
That was funny.
We also put up signs where logging roads enter our land and lease's...A.H

EDIT: I'm back...Our Powers that be here in Arkansas got clever and passed law(s) that gave our Wild Life and Park Rangers full law enforcement capabilitys all through out the state of Arkansas.
Which makes good sense wouldn't you think, now they attend the Acadmy elbow to elbow with future Police and Deputy sheriffs.
My son who was a Policeman and now a Park Ranger has the authority to write citations all over the state and make arrest all over the state.
Which in turn fights crime...Thanks to Mike Huckabee who I hope is our next Presdent.
