Changing the 2nd amendment isn't the answer. I can't think what the end result would be if we repealed one of the bill of rights! The answer is the supreme court. They are the authority at interpreiting the consitution. The president and the congress should not be interpreting the consitution the court has that duty. With any luck When the court hears the D.C. case this year it will rule and lay some of this arguement to rest. But then Roe v. Wade didn't do that for aportion so only time will tell. Tlarkin....I will stand up for the 2nd amenedment from now till the end of my days. Rights are not granted in the bill of rights rather they are reaffermed. Rights are not something that one can have taken away. Every american has the right to defend his or her self and family as well as their home from attack. At every turn in the constitution "the people" refers to individual rights....why should it in this instance refer to a collective right of the government? The whole reason for the 2nd ammendment is so that the people have the power. When the poeple are armed they have the ability and the duty to overturn an unjust government. This is what our founding fathers did and it is because of this that they valued the right to bare arms 2nd only to the right to free speach!

In that spirit of that the right to free speach doesn't mean that you can yell fire in a theater. There are limits to everything and so there are reasons to restrict gun ownership in relation to some people or even say full-auto weapons but the right of lawful citizens to own guns and use them for self protection should never be taken away!
