BW, I think I'll stay traditional, I'm so dumb sometimes that I'd accidently open it and fall out, as far as the seat belt would allow, anyway. The reason I put them on is so they'll quit squealing at me.LMAO Scotty
If middle class America could AFFORD it then we would all already have them. But most are looking for a sub-$20K car. I doubt the price would be attractive.
I don't see why they don't go ahead and make the seat slid out now that they can make the door disappear.
That was fasinating and if they could make the seat slid out after the door disappears where you just stand up and go that would really be neat.
I wonder if they can change my ole Nissan truck doors to do dat.
I just had a funny thought...If'in you had somebody in the car with you,you didn't like
never mind...A.H
I bought a Mirage back in '90. It had the automatic seatbelts. It would not work when needed and would slam me into the dash when unexpected. Technology isn't always as advertised.

That's the first thing that came into my mind. It's just one more thing to break.

Myself, I wouldn't go for it even if I wanted to spend the extra. I distrust things that I may have to open in an emergency that don't have a mechanical override. My door locks are electric, but there's a physical tab I can pull. I have a tire iron under my seat in case I need to smash a window (or a troublemaker). My wife's Jeep is festooned with equipment - that and she never keeps the sides or top on it anyway.
On another note, I sort of like the authoritative movement and sound of opening a car door. You can throw a little drama into it that this door lacks. You also can't slam this one shut to let people know you're in a mood or mean business.
Kinda reminds me of the 59 Ford hardtop convertable, where the steel roof retracted in to the trunk.
A mechanical nightmare, but both ideas look good, too good to last.
