If someone ever shoots me with a .22 and I FIND OUT about it...

...they're in big trouble.

Detroit student didn't know he was shot in class until he got home

Not a sterling recommendation for that round's stopping power, is it?

Or the kid was an idiot who doesn't know when he's been injured.

"DETROIT -- School officials are investigating an incident in which a student was accidentally shot in a Finney High School classroom Wednesday afternoon, but didn't know it until he got home.
The teen that brought the gun to school is being held at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, Detroit Police said.
A shot from a 22-caliber gun grazed a ninth grader in the thigh during an afternoon science class, said Detroit Public Schools spokesman Steve Wasko."

Well, there was that guy a few years ago who got shot in the mouth - didn't realize he had a bullet lodged under his tongue - until he woke up the next morning and his mouth was swollen. The doctor's removed the bullet and that's when he realized he'd been shot.

I've seen both extremes with .22 wounds. A co-worker was shot in the face at close range and the bullet went through his upper lip. knocked out two teeth and lodged in the roof of his mouth. On the other hand, my brother was shot in the back by a guy after he got into a fight with the guys' brother. The bullet barely missed a kidney, hit a bone and ricocheted, finally coming to a stop so close to his heart that it couldn't be removed. He lost his spleen, but made a full recovery.

And nobody heard the shot in classroom? Must have been pretty noisy in there.

True. I've seen both extremes. Had a co-worker took one to the rear and he swears on his soul he thought someone hit him with a pebble until the doctor dug it out and he was sore afterwards. On the other side, I had a friend killed two years ago by a .22. Well placed shots can accomplish anything.

A friend of mine son shot himself with a beretta 25 he had in his waistband. Cut his bladder up real bad severed nerves to his right leg and left him with a limp. Damb near blew off his NADS. All depends om where it enters.

+1 to .22guy. I find it VERY hard to believe no one heard a .22 go off inside a classroom, unless it was a CB round.

They said the teacher heard a noise and couldn't figure out where it came from. Subsonic round from a gun inside a padded book bag? I have no trouble believing it...

And remember, the kid was only grazed.

For every story about 22's not being deadly, there's a story to the contrary. I'd as soon not be shot, period! Scotty

It's never been one of my favorite things either, Scotty. Ranks right down there with falling off motorcycles at high speed, regardless of gun caliber or engine size.

By the way, speaking of small-caliber guns: I was surfing the web for Seecamp guns last night, and discovered two things: first, Seecamp now makes a .380 that's the same size as their .32, except for being five hundredths of an inch thicker through the grip. Shooting that must be like trying to hang onto a cigarette lighter that shoots. Second, North American Arms now makes its Guardian in .32 NAA; That's a .32 with a necked-down .380 casing.

It will also cost you a small portion of your left lung and possibly a kidney, depending where you buy it.

I've read that the .32 Seecamps are coming down closer to MSRP, since North American Arms, Kel-Tec et al have been getting into the mini-mouse gun act. Has that been your experience? I saw a Seecamp here last week they wanted $875.00 for, second-hand. Maybe no one got the word to them?

It has been some time since the shop I work at had a Seecamp in .380 and I haven't seen them around anywhere else. But a year ago we sold it for $810 brand new. A customer ordered one about six months ago (that's when it arrived) and he paid the same but waited for almost five months for it to come in from the factory. Right now I've seen only the .32 and only in a package: Seecamp .32 and Detonics 1911 in display case for $2200. Seen it in two places so far.

If I spent that for the package I wouldn't need it; I'd be so short on pocket money the muggers wouldn't bother with me.

I'd be too busy slamming my head into a wall repeatedly that the muggers would think I was nuts!

I'll take a big ole 1911 for half the price, any day. You can learn to conceal 'em if the need arises, and a better than average chance of scaring a perp to death, or knockin' him down if that need should arise. Also, those little cutie guns don't fit in my meathooks, and that lack of control and confidence scares this ole boy! Scotty

Yeah, I need a Seecamp like a hole in the head; I can't get a CCW in California anyway, and in Arizona I can open-carry.

But they're such purty li'l things...a gunsmith showed me his a couple of weeks ago. Pulled what looked like a wallet out of his back pocket, and dropped an engraved, highly-polished Seecamp with ivory grips into his hand from it. Any one who demands that old boy hand over his wallet is in for a rude shock.
