Stock #'s

Does anyone know what the numbers stamped usually into the butt area of a WWII M1 stock refer to? I've read various meanings to these #'s over time but would like to know if there is a definite reason for them. TIA,Al

Try this website. maybe you can find some answers from it?

U.S. Military Firearms Manufacture Dates

Also check out the links on the left hand side of the webpage link you're taken to..

And by the way, other more informed members on this site might be more apt and able to help if you show or describe some or all of the markings/numbers you want info on/for? I've found there are a lot of helpful well informed people here. Good luck
