Just before my wife and I moved, a hispanic gang member(high on cocaine) called the police and said there was some trouble at a liquor store. When the police arrived, he ambushed them, killing one and badly wounding the other. Four or so hours later, they found him in an alley, and when he raised the rifle, they put him down. Permanently. And they want to disarm US! Scotty

Some show on TV had a segment about that, Scotty, and they showed the surveillence videos. To add insult to injury, the jerk was either active duty or just out of the service; I don't remember which.

According to the show, he used an "SKS assault rifle."

I watched that video, too. It was about "gangs" enlisting in the military so they could get training in Urban Fighting and then use that training to do what that perp did! Let's face it Troy, even with a permit to carry, you wouldn't stand a chance against someone like that! I received the same training many moons ago, but who of us walks around society with an AR and wearing Kevlar? I sure as Hell don't! Just when you thought we had run out of things to worry about, huh?!?! Bob

Yes, his family tried to say he was a PTSD combat veteran, but it finally came out he was a rear echelon truck driver who never got close to anything! And yes, he was in the service, though I can't understand why anyone would want a gangster in a position to handle firearms! And lastly, they called it an assault rifle because the nondetachable 10 rd mag had been replaced with several 30 rd detachable mags. This guy even got a waiver on his gang tattoos! How can that happen? And the illegal alien community tried to make waves that swat executed the scumbag. The simple fact is if you point a gun at a cop, he's gonna shoot you several times in his own defence!! Scotty

Okay; the detachable 30-rd mag's made it an assault rifle by California's laws. I missed that detail.

They're giving waivers left and right these days, Scotty, to make their quotas.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that assault rifle spraying like a fully automatic military weapon?

I don't think so, but it's been a while since I saw the video.

There are some good stories out there, just not as colorful. Here's just a few:
Guns Save Lives
Just For Skeptics
Civilian Gun Self-Defense Blog

No, it wasn't full auto, he was hammering the trigger. Remember, he was wound up tight on cocaine. The illegals got real scarce there for awhile, then it went right back to the way it was before, them intimidating people who had lived there all their lives. A while after that happened, I had a young hispanic in a 45 thousand dollar Suburban drive slowly down my one block street with his stereo turned as loud as it would go. I followed to get the plate number, and when he parked in front of a house back on the main road, two more came out and wanted to know what I was doing. I explained that I'd had enough of the music to last me a lifetime, politely. The older fella said they would be over to see me, so on the way home I called the sheriff office and told them I was headed home to load a couple of firearms to defend myself. I had a deputy waiting out front when I got home, and he asked what was going on. I told him that being disabled, I couldn't take on three men barehanded. I gave him directions to the house and went inside to load a 1911 and a 12 ga. shotgun. He came back 45 minutes later and said I had nothing to worry about, and I asked why. He said he told the three that if they survived the fight, they would all go to jail. They wanted to know why, and he told them that being disabled, I would be in fear of my life, and would prob'ly shoot all three of 'em. He said they blanched a bit, and I never saw 'em on my street again. He seemed to think that I was within my rights as a citizen. But more kept moving into the area, and it became untenable for my wife and me. End of story, Scotty

You know, it's funny that none of these stories in "Civilians Gun Self-Defense Blog" made it onto the national news, now isn't it?

Oh, right. They show people using firearms as the Framers intended they should be used: responsibly, for personal defense of themselves, their property and others, not to commit masscres of unarmed/disarmed people in a gun-free zone. They don't fit the antigun agenda the national media has. Therefore, these stories cannot be newsworthy, according to the national media.

And the media tries to claim they don't have a bias against our Second Amendment rights. Yeah, right. Just how stupid do they think we are?

I think you can get carried away with that argument, Cyrano. Anytime a shopkeeper or clerk around here uses a gun on a robber, it sure makes the news. It goes in the local paper and the county paper, and shows up on TV. I haven't seen any indication that anyone's trying to suppress the stories, and I live in California.

Of course the bloodier a story is, the more coverage it gets across the country. But that's not just the case with gun violence; it's that way whether it's a traffic pile-up, a plane wreck or a gang shoot-out. That's the nature of news; playing up the sensational is not necessarily proof of some sort of bias or conspiracy....
