Better yet, take a look at all the happy employees standing together doing their happy little warm up, psych up cheer in the mornings before they hit the floor at ChinaMart.
I believe in zombies more than I believe in WalMart and frankly, I DO NOT BELIEVE IN WALMART!
As for the question about the origins of the zombie notion....reread the first paragraph of my post. Nuff said.

We are one step closer to Zombies. With in the last few weeks, scientists have managed to reanimate a previously dead heart. http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.c....aspx?e=858657
Zombies have been created, now it is just a waiting game.

I don't claim to be an expert. I have read where there is a link between Voodoo and psychosomatic illness, meaning that victims are victims because they believe they are victims. Not because of the effect of any chemicals or herbs or whatever.
To answer teenagegunwacho.... That can happen only in b-grade sci fi movies. Most movies of the genre are based on imaginary fears. I've been a nurse for over 30 years. I've yet to see anything that even closely resembles zombiedom or whatever you want to call it. I've taken care of all age groups, watched children as well as the elderly die. NOBODY has ever risen from the dead in all those years. I've never seen anyone act like a zombie. The closest thing I've seen to that state is an Alzheimers disease victim, and even they are in their own little world, separated from reality but not a zombie, not a cannibal, not anything but a victim of a bad disease.
Can a gene linked virus or bacteria cause a zombie state? PLEASE carefully read some of the above posts and decide for yourself. In my opinion, the answer is no. At least not with current medical science and technology where it is today, or even in the near future.
Society's Zombies are real people that exist in a anti-social state, or maybe I should say, psychopathic state who have no conscience, no respect for life, who rob, beat, abuse innocent victims, whether that be man woman or child, destroy without conscious, remorse or regret. Those are the zombies that are all around us that everyone who values life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness deal with on a daily basis.
On a lighter note, my personal opinion of what is a zombie? A nurse who has been forced to work a 20 hour shift and given a med cart...be afraid, be very afraid.

I saw Bob in 1971 at a USO show in Osan.
Perhaps I should ask a followup question, Who here has actually seen a zombie? What did you do to get away from them or how did you kill them.
I am totally ignorant about life after death.

Who realy cares if they do or dont exist, dont take it too seriously. Some people believe that bigfoot is around? There are stories over here about drop bears and bunyips, not to mention yowies and big cats.
I have said it before and ill say it again.I HAVE seen plenty of zombies. They drive their cars every morning to a place we call public service. How do i avoid them?Usually drive around them at 60mph.Its amazing how they love to hog the right lane and sit next to another zombie.Just plodding along at 10 kmh under the speed limit.Had one this morning on the way to work.I sat behind these two pubes for 10 minutes before i flashed 500 watts of high beam into his rear vision mirror to wake them up.
Zombies do exist

Are zombies real? I'd say no, not really (not YET). Although the origin of "zombies" are traced back to drug induced "sleeps", and after the person is buried they are dug up, and are "resurrected" and are forced to work as a slave (still under the influence of a trance like drug). (Haitian origins I believe)
The possibility of some kind of biological weapon being produced and spread by a terrorist (or accidentally spread) is definitely there. Of course they wouldn't be "traditional" zombies, but they might have some similarities.
It'd be closer to a 28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later or I Am Legend scenario though. Not necessarily "dead" coming back to life, but an "infected" breed of people that are lunatics who kill or "infect" other humans like mindless animals.
With modern technology they already may have some kind of virus like this in a lab somewhere, or perhaps something is being developed. The idea isn't too far out if you look at all the different types of biological weapons.
I wouldn't say live in fear, but I'd say be prepared for anything, and go with an open mind. If a zombie uprising was to happen I wouldn't be too surprised.

see one thing I don't like about holly wood is that if you guys watched resident evil the red queen was like they're basic instinct "is the need to feed" so why not on the other infected/zombies always go after the regular peaple.

Isn't a zombie, technically a reanimated dead person?
Unfortunately, I've pronounced a lot of patients dead during my career and I've yet to see one cadaver rise from it's post postmortem state and lurch about my floor. I've never seen one twitch, move or wink at me. Not one has set up and voice a craving for fresh brains and then bit a CNA's ear off. There is an absence of pulse, respiration or pain stimuli. The brain is dead, therefor the rest of the body is in a similar state. It ain't doin nuthin but laying there enjoying the decomposing process.. Or as the old saying goes, you can't whip a dead horse. Nor can you make a dead person rise and walk unless you're...well, you know who....
As a much younger person, I watched 'zombie' movies such as Night of the Living Dead, Return of the Living Dead, The Mummy and many others with rapt interest. But even as a kid, I didn't believe that they really existed. To me the true zombies we would have to face in a TEOTWAWKI situation will be the gang bangers strung out on drugs or whatever that will rampage the countryside looking for their own form of 'fresh brains' in the form of stolen property that they can use to buy more of what ever drug d' jour they are hooked on.
The solution for that problem is simple. Buy bigger guns....and lots of bullets. | whats a teotwawkilakawakabamalamadingdong situation?
