I have always had trouble getting a handle on the process of "zombification". That is, just how is a person infected by a zombie and becomes another zombie? It is well known that destroying his brain is the sure way to kill a zombie but if that is so and if he has his way a zombie will eat your brain, than you get just dead because without a brain you can't be a zombie.

After careful examination of the existing research (I haven't seen "I am legioned" yet), it appears that especially in the early stages of a zombie outbreak people get bitten but not killed. The victim then dies even if the bite is minor and reanimates as a zombie. It is clear that being in close proximity of zombies by itself will not cause zombiefication, however it is not clear if a scratch by a zombie or an open wound not caused by a bite will lead to infection.

Clearly, the most infectious stage of a zombie outbreak is early on, when they lack the numbers to overcome healthy humans. At that stage victims frequently are bitten but escape and can undergo zombiefication without the knowledge of those humans around them. Hoards of zombies are self limiting in that they overpower victims and destroy rather than infect them.

It appears that the slow and somewhat uncoordinated reactions of zombies may be detrimental to individual zombies but in fact contributes to the escape of victims some of which have been bitten only to start a new pocket of infection.

You get infected by coming into contact with other infected people,

In some of the later zombie movies they changed the plot where you could not kill the zombies no matter what even if you did take out the brain. In those later films the zombies could even talk after a while and one explained that they ate brains because it was the only thing that would make the pain go away.

Thats where the whole zombies eating brains things came into play.

Im banking on the standard zombies attack people not specifically brains theory.

And I hope they arnt the running kind either.

Zombie Targets

You can buy zombie pistol targets. The hunting permit is actually a bumper sticker.

Click on one of the targets to go to the store section.
Or watch this lol.

My take on Zombies is Figurtive not Literal

I beleive there are a whole raft of folks who would fall into this classification, when you see riots takeing place "Rodney King"
there was a whole lot of not very civilized activity happening
just give the bottom feeders a chance to run rough shod over you
when the central govt breaks down, those somthing for nothing folks are going to get ther's and you are on the shopping list to be exploited
its already happening now just bubbling under the surface.
just this week the new's featured story about the Iowa fella who had the copper gutted out his home and it burned with him in it.
just imagine this behavior x 10=anarchy
Zombies are another way of experssing Human Depravity in a disorganized environment.
In the old day's the neighbors we had were also our close friends and we depended on one another for support in difficult times.
In 1982 a rancher in our area was bucked off his horse while working calves and was laid up & couldent harvest his Hay, friends and folks from across the town ship all set a date and showed up and put up his hay for him. those kind of folks wouldent put up with anyone acting badly when you get to the point of acting like a wild animal, rachers had a cure for mad dogs.

So what do you all think? 12 gauge slugs or 00 shot for zombies?

If its close in does it really matter?

I say 9mm is the best anti zombie gun. Accurate, strong enough to punch a hole through a decaying skull, widely available, magazines have decent capacity, not as heavy (if you are carrying lots of heavier ammo it can drag you down), and you have a ton of guns chambered for it.

However, the undead aren't the biggest threat during a zombie apocalypse. Actually, the living are far more dangerous.
