Due to the dropping water levels of many lakes and rivers, nuclear power plants may have to throttle back or completely shut down later this year.

30 miles

A-10: Sir; that is about 30 miles from where I sit.
Being from around here, actually before they started the dams along the Catawba river, it looks very strange to see dirt where I have water skied, fished, swam. Maybe it'll go ahead and rain some.
Kind of scary; Charlotte being a Major user of that resource.

What a very unfortunate situation the lack of water in that part of the US has created. Like so many others, I hold on to hopes that conditions will change and precipitation will come...

In my neck of the woods we too have been hoping for lots of precipitation, in the form of snow, this winter to help replenish our very depleted reservoirs. The snows have been accumulating in higher mountain areas, and we hope for more.

The article said that blackouts are unlikely, but I kind of doubt that. When a HUGE provider of energy is shut down, backups or not, people are going to lose power.
As wet as it is in my neck of the woods, I never would have guessed that the droubt is still existent.

What about cloud seeding? The Chinese do it with pretty good results.

What can anyone expect?

Trillions for lost wars in the deserts of far off lands.
Substituting a foreign policy of war for concerns and needs of American citizens within our borders.
Do we have an emergency or just the natural outcome of this type government policy? I am not saying we can control rain. I am saying we could do better short, medium, and long range planning to care for American citizens within the borders of the United States.

It'll just jack up the price of power and they'll buy it from places like Washington State that has a few nuke plants and some hydroelectric dams.

We've had LOTS of precip this year. Flooding bad enough that we had FEMA step in with aid.
