Two men have been arrested at Memorial Hospital in connection with a home invasion in Fountain.
Police say when the two broke into a house in the middle of the night, the resident inside shot them with his shotgun.
27 year-old Jorge Elugardo and 24 year-old Brian Kennedy are accused of Burglary, Menacing, and Theft.
Police say the crooks kicked in the front door on Sunday night at a house on Fountain Mesa Road, just south of Highway 16.
The suspects got away, but not before suffering gunshot wounds.
“This is where I shot him. There is debris from his jacket and stuff,” said Cody Buckler pointing out the holes in his hallway.
He didn't ask any questions when he saw two masked men in his living room. "I had adrenaline running through me."
He just fired from his gun. "There was another guy downstairs, so I aimed over here and when he came up the stairs, I fired at him. He ran back down to the basement," said Buckler.
The crook jumped through a 6 foot window in the basement, while the other crook went out the front door. "I was standing by the kitchen near the front door, fired and hit him. He dropped my t.v. that he was carrying."
The crooks left a trail of blood to their get away car. "It was the craziest night ever," said Sara Jacobs, Buckler’s fiancee.
Jesse Robinson was asleep on the couch when the two men broke in. “With a gun pointed at me, they said, ‘Put your hands up and don't move’. I did what they said."
Police said Buckler probably won't face any charges for shooting the suspects.
If you know anything about this home invasion, call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

I believe that man was fully within his right to defend his family and home. If the newsies would report more of this good stuff, the crooks might start thinking twice about going into a mans home to do wrong.

A.H., I let the word spread around here that I'm a reclusive, disabled veteran who don't like surprizes! Worked better than my security system! The only visitors I get are UPS and Fedex!LMAO!

I can't believe I missed this one!

You know I love finding these and posting them. Busy week, I must be off my game...

Tsk, pity it seems he was likely using small shot. Those guys should have been crawling from the house and collapsing on the lawn.

This is getting interesting. Fountain is a little farm town outside of Colorado Springs and Ft. Carson.

Fountain police are investigating a predawn drive-by shooting at a house on Fountain Mesa Road where two armed, masked intruders were shot and wounded earlier in the week.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jess Freeman said someone shot out the windows of a Ford Explorer and shot a truck parked in the driveway of the home early Thursday.
Witnesses say they saw a late ’80s silver Toyota Corolla leave the area immediately after the shooting.
“It’s been one of those weeks,” Freeman said.
Four people were asleep inside the house at the time of the shooting, including 19-year-old Cody Buckler, who shot the two intruders late Sunday after he awoke and found them carrying his flat-screen television out of the house.
Police said both intruders were carrying semiautomatic handguns.
Police said they think the drive-by shooting was related to the robbery.
They immediately took in one of the suspects, 27-yearold Jorge Elugardo, for questioning. Elugardo was later released.
“He was involved in a home invasion at this address,” Freeman said. “He bonded out Wednesday. There’s a drive-by shooting there a few hours later. He’s an obvious person of interest.”
Elugardo was shot in the upper left shoulder during the burglary, police said.
Another suspect, Brian Kennedy, 23, was shot in the right arm, police said.
The men were arrested after seeking medical treatment for their injuries. Kennedy had surgery before being released from a hospital.
Both were arrested Tuesday and are accused of first-degree burglary, menacing and theft, Freeman said. Kennedy remains in jail on $25,000 bond.
Buckler said the gunfire woke him early Thursday, and he was angry that his vehicles were shot up. On Thursday afternoon, he moved out of the house.
“If they are going to just drive by and shoot at me, and don’t want to stop in no more, then I’m just going to move out,” Buckler said.

Well I like this guys spunk, but I wish he could shoot better - he wouldn't be having the drive by shooting problem now if he had killed the little punks. They were both armed and forcefully entering his house - they lost their right to life then!
