Question Nagant M91/30 Bayonets, Scopes and Ammo

I bought a nice Mosin M91/30 with everything for 90 dollars. Now at Christmas I showed it to my uncle with the bayonet. He told me that due to Federal Firearms Laws, the bayonet of the Mosin is illegal because it is a pigsticker type. I then asked him if the M44 Mosin is an illegal gun because the bayonet is a fold out bayonet of the same type. He told me that due to the bayonet the M44 is classified as an assault weapon, even though its bolt action and only holds 5 rounds.
Secondly anyone know where I can get good, light ball,non-corrosive brass ammo?
Lastly, anyone know where I can get a good PU scope for less than on ebay, gunbroker and auctionarms?
Thanks in advance.

No that i think...

He told me the bayonet was illegal to have on the gun OUTSIDE, you can probably have the bayonet for collectors purposes.

I agree with lefty. He was probably trying to pull your leg a bit. (tease you) Besides, the assault weapons ban expired.

Where do you live?

Check out AIM for some good ammo.

A lot of people on this board would be in deep doo-doo if that was true.

first off I am not a diplomat LOL the bayo is not illegale to own or have on the rifle !!And like was stated assult weapons ban is no more bsides which 5 shot bolt actions are not assault weapons!! if your going to hunt with it check your local laws as they vary from state to stae as to whether or not you can have a boyo on a hunting rifle..sometimes the bayo is regulated by knife laws not hunting regs.. lastly I would hope that your uncle was pulling your leg as there is a lot of misinformation out there..just my .02 worth

He would be correct if he were in Australia. I imagine that a lot of people are killed by accidental bayonet sticks down under. Perhaps if there was a flower in the end of it.

Gotta go do some bumpfiring to sooth my soul.

If they're selling them with the bayonets in California, I guaran-damn-tee they're legal in the rest of the country...

Ok now PU scope and good ammo

OK I've established that the bayonet is legal, but I live in New York, and we still have a form of the assault weapons ban(THANKS PATAKI).

Where can I get the good, cheap PU scope and good light, non corrosive ammo.

In California (yeah, I know...) that isn't true. For example, I believe an SKS with a grenade launcher is illegal here under the statewide "assault weapons" ban.

Makes perfect sense to me. After all, we read in the paper two or three times a week about evil criminals using them to launch grenades at honest, god-fearing citizens, don't we?

Yeah, thanks for nothing, Pataki, you nanny-state-loving SOB! (I live in NY too.)

"Cheap" and "PU scope" are mutually exclusive terms, especially if you're talking about an actual WWII scope. There's someone in Russia making reproduction PU scopes and scope mounts from the original jigs on the original equipment (the Soviets never threw anything away, just mothballed it against future need), and I think the scopes are running around $200 right now.

There's a website, mosin-nagant.com or something like that, that is THE resource for M-N shooters. They'd know where to look for your scope.

As far as the ammo goes, the best deals I've seen have been from Classic Arms down in North Carolina. Check them out:

Classic Arms Inc.

Nah, those bayonets are totally legal.

Heck, I have one mounted on the front of my car.

Okay, maybe I don't.
