Thumbs up Moving to Florida

Tomorrow mornig my Fiance and I are packing up and moving to Florida. Going to stay with my parents for a couple weeks in Panama City while we look for jobs and an apartment in Tallahassee. First and foremost what is the best place to shoot down there? Also, what are some good places to apply to there? I'm a jack of all trades so I'm open to just about anything that pays $10/hr or better.

SAY IT AIN'T SO! LEAVING ALABAMA! Of all places to go - Panama City! Just kidding - I have spent some time in Panama City - neat place. I worked on putting all 16+ miles of beach back after Hurricane Ivan and other storms wiped it out! Big Dog is the man to talk to on the shooting and ranges - he lives in that area - you may want to PM him.

They are building lots of condos along the beach - I am sure you can find some work there.

Cool

Big Dog can probably help you as he is a Tallahassee good ol' boy and rather knowledgable.
He hangs out on Flying lead but appears here occassionally.

Thumbs up

Hey, The 'Dog heard the call . . .

Yep, I'm a native Tallahasseean.
We have two ranges here in my AO.
1) The Tallahassee Rifle and Pistol Club down in Woodville, south of town. Members only, and they have a website with the membership requirements.

Tallahassee Rifle & Pistol Club, Inc.

2) The Apalachicola Nat'l Forest public range, southwest of town on Forest Road 305, off Silver Lake Road. Free to the public.

I favor the public range, though I do go early to 'avoid the noid'! In the afternoon, we sometimes get the Gangsta Wannabess who shoot their pistols sideways. I get there before the 'crack of dawn' and get gone before the idiots have slept off the night before.

I've heard of a shotgun range up in Havana (pronounced "HAYvanna") north of town, catering to the skeet & trap set - but I never been there.

Commercial and home construction is booming here, and in the small towns surrounding us. Anybody in the construction field who can't find a job here is really lazy!!
Lots of garages and shops too. This is a big University town - lots of opportunities!!
