How long will ammo last

How long will ammo last in my house centerfire, shotshell and rimfire

will it last longer in military style ammo cans verses just sitting on the 'shelf'

thanks

Considering how old military surplus ammunition is and it still goes bang most everytime, I'd say your stock will last a good long time.

I dont think it makes any difference. Just make sure they all stay dry.

+1 to Reddbecca. I have a bunch of military .45 ACP from 1945 that sat in storage for decades. Every one went bang the last time I tried them.

As said, keep it dry and cool(don't store it in the attic)and it will last a very long time. From the Fall of 1983 to summer 1985, I worked in a Hardware store where I bought 2 cases of 12 ga. ammo wholesale. Still got about 60 rounds. So far they've worked just fine.

I heard that the ammo from the small-arms lockers on the USS Maine still went bang after spending decades on the bottom of Havana harbour...
