I liked the movie "Sniper", it's still a favorite of mine. "Shooter" is great movie all around, but I'm with six shot, my favorite sniper movie has to be "Enemy at the Gates".

Is the movie "Sniper 2" any good? Just wondering might buy if it is.

Shooter is probably my favorite movie. Books, read marine sniper, all about carlos hathcock, that has to be up there in books I've read it is very good. ambidextrous shooting is fairly common i believe, i know i do it when its needed. if i cant swing around in a blind very easily or soemthing i just go left handed, not that hard at all.

I also can shoot well with either hand. Just feels more natural in my left.

When Hathcock saw a flash of light (light reflecting off the enemy sniper's scope) in the bushes, he fired at it, shooting through the scope and killing the sniper. Surveying the situation, Hathcock concluded that the only feasible way he could have put the bullet straight down the enemy's scope and through his eye would have been if both snipers were zeroing in on each other at the same time, and Hathcock fired first...
If you look on YouTube, there are a couple of videos with interviews of Hathcock. In one of them he discusses the Cobra Sniper incident. He and his spotter "stepped on the body," so quite aside from Gunny Hathcock not pulling the long bow about this, it's a confirmed kill that happened the way he said it did.

that hathcock deal is one of those really hardcore things that i sincerely hope is true.
like i said steelcore ammo on an old style scope might just have done it.
even if the bullet didnt go through that mans head that glass driven into your face with the force of a full on rifle bullet........

On a revisit of the myth of the sniper Mythbusters took an original PU scope and 30-06 steel core ammo and confirmed that this could happen. It went through the scope and into the ballistics gelatin head deep enough to kill.

Yep, I am sure they did! The first trial they used a modern 3x9 variable scope. The 06 slug did not go through. Well DUH!! There is a big difference between the modern scope and the old 3x PU models. Plus, they were using no surplus ammo. When they switched to steel core 06 ammo and an original style PU scope it equaled confirmed myth.

God Bless Carlos Hathcock.

During the WWII battle of Stalingrad, two snipers, a Russian (Law), and a German (Harris), are locked in a battle of wills and marksmenship, while the Russian is boosted to the status of hero by a political official

it's a heluva movie!

The late Evan Novak, aka Ed McBain of the 87th Precinct novels, and Barry Longyear, a respected science fiction writer, separately observed that if you want to insure getting hate mail for the rest of your life, just make a mistake concerning a gun in one of your novels. Use a firearm that did not exist in tbe period your story is set in, have someone shoot somebody with a firearm not chambered for the caliber you mentioned, do something absurd like shoot a murder victim with a dry ice bullet, have a semi-auto pistol shoot like a machine gun, etc etc etc, and you'll never hear the end of it

Seen that before also, was on again yesterday the 19th. Bullet hit the outer and next lens in then went up and out one all 3 scopes they wasted. New scopes also,. cheap Barska from the logo I saw, but hell, wish I had their budget sometimes. lol And they get to shoot some nice rifles also. They also did a myth with t muskets where they fired at the same time and the bullets hit each other and fused together. But they bought 2 brand new replica muskets for this myth test. lol They ended up doing it, but not with both muskets, couldn't get timing right. Used one musket and some contraption to hold the other ball stationary. It fused though, so labeled the myth as probable.

Don't think it was Berenger himself as much as it was him reading the script they gave him. More then likely a writer who had no clue? lol

The Myth-Busters tested the dry ice bullet myth. Can't remember how it turned out. My favorite sniper movie was Saving Private Ryan with Barry Pepper as the sniper. He killed a German sniper by shooting in the eye through his scope.

Oh my! I just realized you said the great Ed McBain is dead. My father and I are in mourning.

Six-Shot. Read "War of the Rats", it will give you a different viewpoint of, "Enemy at the Gates". I will shut up now. Goodnight all.
