.243win. has a rim size of .473",and case length of 2.045".It,s parent case is the .308win.. It gets about 3000fps and 2000ft lbs with a 100gr bullet. There is no .243wsm that I am aware of. The .243 wssm has a rim diammeter of .535 and length of 1.670".It,s parent case is the .300wsm.With a 100gr bullet it gets about 3136fps and 2184ft lbs.The wssm case is famous for feed problems, but I have seen them work very well in AR type actions.I still think I would stick with the proven .243win. samuel.

I'm with Samuel on this one

I believe the standard .243 Winchester is an outstanding cartridge and has been since its introduction in the mid 1950's. It is a proven performer getting the job done on game up to deer sized without bone crunching recoil and mind numbing muzzle blast. I have little belief the new cartridges will last in the marketplace as they have a lot of hype but little in the way of filling a ballistic gap.

i thought the 243 might be a little lite for deer as I also wanted to use it for coyotes and wolves, so i was thinking the 243 wssm mag
would be good enough for all three

i have a 30.06 shooting 180 gr for elk and moose and wanted a lighter gun for the above

I believe you would find the .243win. has harvested about a zillion deer, antelope, and such, and I have used them on varmints with excelent success. At 400yds it delivers about 1/3rd more punch than a .22-250 with just a slight bit more drop.I admit I have no personal experience with the WSSM but it has a history of not feeding well.I would check into that before I bought one. sam.
