hey every one. got a few questions. i have a rem mod 700 bdl syn .270 win

i was thinking about truning it in to a sniper rifle per say. new scope, bi-pod, haveing the barrel glass beded,etc. dose anyone have any suggestion on this project. I.E brands of products or anything in general??

The .270 has not enjoyed success as a long range "tack driver" cartridge. If you want a sniper type setup I would trade it off for a caliber/barrel combination more in line with that goal such as a .308 or .300 Winchester Magnum with a heavy, target grade barrel.

Scope.. lots to choose from just make sure you invest in your optics, tell us more about the usage of your rifle long range/hunting or just a shooter, etc?
Your .270 has a 1 in 10 twist rate so a 130 grain bullet is your better choice.
You have alot of choices in stocks too, would recommend pillar bedded rather than glass bedded but I used Brownells Glasbed to do my own stock.
If you tell us, more specifically, what things you are going to use your rifle for advice can be more specific as well.
Harris 6"-9" bi-pod is what I use and endorse.
The trigger is what you should get done a.s.a.p., I did my own but recommend taking it to a gunsmith. The Remington trigger is a very good one and can be adjusted to almost no over-travel, 1.5-2.5 lbs of pull weight (lightest you can go with stock adjustments), the sear can be made oh so perfect.. Ok getting excited I am going shooting..

Like nathan said, the .270 has trouble hold very tight groups at long range. Why, I don't know. I used to have one, and would get 1" groups at 100 yards, and 6-8" groups at 200 yards.

Some of the problem was probably related to me...but I never liked the caliber. Many many others would disagree with me though.

Rasterman puts up good points. Do what he says and you will have a pretty accurate rifle if you do your part.

The .270win was never popular on the range because it was the inbetween cal.,not because of any inaccuracy problem.That is the same as some that say the .30-06 isnt as accurate as the .308 when the two have done virtually the same in accuracy and performance.If you can get the same performance with less recoil most would do it. There is no inaccuracy problem with the .270win.and it does excelent hunting or target shooting.

ok but the gun in question has never given me any problems out to 300. i have killed 3 mature white tail at that range. two were standing broad side and the other was walking i held 1" high on all and droped all 3 with one shot. and it was sited in for about 105.
i guess what im looking for is to double that range. with out buying a brand new rifle. i have a .308 in a pump and that would be twicw as hard let along dumb to yrun it in to a long range gun.

Ok guys i have another question about the rifle in question here.

right now it has a intrunal 4 rds mag, my question is.
is it possible to give this gun a detachable mag.(DM) or a drop out floor plate? perferably a DM for faster reloading in the field-i know one should not have to reload fast in the field one shot one kill- or unloading and having your ammo handy. and would like to have this done without breaking the bank.

and to answer the next question the stock is snythic.
