I always read about the innacuracy of the Kalashnikov family, whether it be serious or an endearment. Now, I'm curious, has anyone ever achieved any decent accuracy with one of these rifles? Also, is there any aftermarked work that I can do or any bolt ons available to improve the AK's accuracy?
Thanks!

I once got 2moa 3 shot group. But I haven't been able to do it again. I average betwee 3-5 moa depending on the day.
My buddies bulgarian 47 get 2-3 moa and his 74 gets about 1.5 moa (not with me shooting it though!!).
I am not too demanding with AK's.
As long as they go bank every time.I figure most shooting for me will be under 100' and sometimes I won't be able to see my target and may have to shoot through walls, doors,or bushes.
Don't want a .223 for that reason,
I like threaded barrels because I can use various attachments, especially the Krink type flash hider, like you see on the short AK's(10.5" barrel) because they reduce blast and flash, trying to save the old ears.
The first and only time I have ever fired an AK, i was about 12 years old and it was my faters Egyptian Maddi AK-47...I must say for being 12 at the time, it was a lil intimidating holding that rifle. But after my dad had assured to me that it was fine and that it didn't have much recoil, I wasn't as hesitant. And after getting familiar with the sights, I was squeezing off rounds with very decent accuracy at 50 yards. I know that isn't much, but for me, that was pretty good for only being 12. I still have the rifle, but have not fired it since because I have many other rifles I like shootin instead such as my M1's, Mosin Nagants and my Lee Enfields, but I have been tempted to take it to a range eventually and fire it once more.

Rebarrel it with an Enfield No.4 barrel, fairly easy job to machine off/on the threads & rechamber. Shoot first without drilling & refitting the gas system to test for accuracy. The manually operated ones that have had this done are very accurate.
I can get about 2MOA with my Saiga-100 .308, hopping for a little better after i get it broken in with a few more rounds then work out a good handload for it.

Out of my Arsenal milled SA-M7 I get consistant 2"-3" all day long at 100yds. With my stamped others I hover around 3"-4" at 100yds.
The AK can be a fairly accurate rifle. Most of the problem lies in the ammunition & the shooter.

With the proper hand load worked up, and a Yugo in single shot mode, I would love to see what you could get as far as accuracy. Shoot regular ammo for normal distances, then switch to handloads and single shot for farther targets.
