ammo storage ?
ok,
the only place i have to store ammo is in a metal shed that has wild temp fluctuations.
i want to make a VERY well insulated box to keep my gun food in.
it will have at least 12 inches of styrofoam wallboard on all sides as well as top and bottom.
what i am getting at is it very well may get quite warm as well as cold in that box but it will be a very slow temp change.
this is my only storage option.
wadaya think?

thats a darn good point.
but i have walked in there before in the summer and about fainted.
i suppose if i was in a heavily insulated box it wouldnt be too bad.

Hi billy...Will the roof turbines work in the summer ? You know the round globe things that a breeze cause's to pull out the heat.
I have 2 on top of my house and there not connected to electrisity.
You can cover them with gabage bags in the winter.
You also should consider putting an air vent in the bottom area of the door like you see in homes that have central heat or reather the kind that are small that under the eve of house's.
Smart man,that AH!That must be what you call "YANKEE ENJINUITY".Actually those whirllygig vents do wonders but I dont know if they make them that small. The ammo would be okay but you may get warm getting it out.Also not over 2" insulation would be plenty.I keep ammo in an old refrigerator in a well vented 24'x40' pole building and as long as I leave the door open it is fine.We have a lot of humidity.By using dissicant and closing it up it should be fine. sam.

They wont sweat or even get nervous until they find out you are going to shoot them.That sounds like a good start,but my problem has always been if I had ammo I would find a reason to use it.Believe it or not,I bought 20 boxes of Federal .22lr 550 in the box last summer and I have 2 opened boxes left.Of course I have a soninlaw and grandkids on good days,but still that is a lot of shooting.I really didnt think I shot a .22 that much. sam.

since i dont beleive in SHTF and am not going to kill anyone anyway.....
this is all just food for my toys.
prices are rising and will probably never stop.
so i am trying to save some money.
uh oh....
dont get me started on the ever popular SHTF "when can i shoot somebody and not get in trouble "delusion/fantasy/ nocturnal emission pipedream!

I seldom ever read anything in that SHTF forum.I find myself too stupid to comprehend and unwilling to learn.(old age).But it entertains a lot of people and maybe someone will benefit from it.I have a lot of ammo on hand but most of it is for killing those orange birds or punching more holes in paper that already has holes in it.Dont make much more sense than hording ammo and waiting for something to happen so they can use it. sam.
