| Its a samsonfish mate, similar to amberjack or yellowtail kingfish. They get together in 100m of water and you jig them up on 80lb gear. Adrenaline rush is a big understatement. Heart attack material.... now your talking. That one was decent at 70lb but there was a 100 pounder on that day too. |

| agreed, we had a big mako shark on for a while that day too.... the diversity of marine life west of rottnest island is unbelieveable |

| Senior Member | Beautiful fishing!! What do they taste like? I got a bit tired of tuna a few years ago, and don't eat it much, anymore. But, CGO loves it, and keeps a shelf full of canned tuna!

| The samsonfish and tuna were let go as they are only sportfish. The pretty coloured one is a coronation trout and has the most beautiful moist white meat. Nothing but a bit of salt pepper, garlic and lemon juice on a hot bbq plate for it. The other two are black bream, I fish for them competitively so the only reason I keep them is to win prize money. Then they are released. |
