A PUBLIC reply to Snakebite

Snakebite, since you wouldn't allow me to reply to your vitriolic message privately, you leave me no choice but to do it on the public forum. First, if you had taken the time to look, you would have found my apology on the same page as your thread. Second, I have not resorted to namecalling and downgrading to try to make a point. I made a mistake, and tried to use satire(sarcasm) on your thread to make a point that officers can't be everywhere at once, hence, the right for citizens to defend themselves. I have apologized a half dozen times, how many more do you want? And if you really want to get it straightened out, why did you block me from replying to you privately? My apology has been accepted by some really good folks here, are you going to accept it? I made a stupid error in judgement and did my best to atone, how about a public apology from you for the poison you threw my way? Scotty

I would leave it be Seabee. Some people only want revenge, phsyical or verbal, instead of an apology. Sad, isn't it?

I used to be married to a LEO for 7 years. Boy could I tell you some stories. Like him coming home to take a nap while on duty and I had to sit there and listen to his radio in case they called him. And that's a mild one.

Seems to me that the ones that take comments so seriously are the ones commiting the greatest infractions. My ex-hubby thought he was the best cop in the whole wide world. I can't tell you how many times he drove drunk. He was a "model" cop.

Let it go Scotty. You have made efforts to make amends and if he doesn't accept them then that's his fault. I respect your effort in making the apology and that is all that can be expected from you. Lets put this to bed and all talk guns now.

I have things that really upset me sometimes, and I try to keep them to myself. Some of them have accidently become public here, because there are folks here who have pretty much the same things that THEY try to keep private. That is why I get too honest at times, and let fly, and then think to myself, uhoh, did it again! I will not allow myself the smug comfort of feeling outrage at anything that is discussed on this forum, because this is the one place where I can talk to people who understand. I don't have a problem apologizing if I have messed up. But I would like to think that folks here can understand why I sometimes go too far. Anybody from this forum ever been spit on when they came home from a war? Anybody here ever had an all knowing college student walk up, and ask , how's it feel to kill babies? Anyone here ever have a white-collar suit tell them that they should be locked up in solitary until the next war breaks out? I have nothing but respect for good police officers, and a lot of them are veterans! But I've been beat up enough to last me for the rest of my life! And I have found folks here who feel just the way I do, and I intend to keep pounding the keys, and pulling my triggers, until that is no longer possible. I thank everyone for being the people they are. If I screw up, let me know, and I will do my very best to make amends, and other than that, what else is there? I am feeling as if I have family all over the country and even the world, and nobody can take that away! My door will always be open to any member of this forum, and a bed will always be there if one of you is tired from a trip, and can go no further. And I'm a pretty fair hand on a grill, so you won't go hungry! Enough said, My apologizing is done for awhile!!!!! Your fellow member, and sometimes dumbshi..., Scotty P.S. They couldn't get me off with a team of Clydesdales!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to mention it, Scotty, but I believe if he's put you on "ignore" he won't see this entire thread, because you started it. In threads started by other people, the only time he'll see your posts is when someone else quotes them.

Fellas, it's okay, because I'm over it. I made the best try, and I'm fairly sure that I did everything I could possibly do to make it right. And I'll prob'ly mess up again, but I will always try to be a good person, and not step on toes needlessly. I'm only human, and appreciate those who realize that. I'm finished with this, and ready to go forward. I sure do like this forum, and everyone on it!!!!! It's like a second home, where I can be the person I happen to be!! Thanks!!! Scotty

Damnit, Texas T, you've done it again. This time while I'm off work, so it was beer instead of coffee. If this keeps up, I'll have to invest in some sort of portable spray shield...
