Stock Question

Does ANYONE have a full length stock that has no sling cut-outs whatsoever, no screwholes, no way to attach a sling at all?

Don't have one, nor have I heard of one without any way to attach a sling.

Are you talking about a military stock, or third party? I have a Richards Walnut stock (not finished yet) with no sling hardware.

These stocks are 96% ready, but there is about 8-10 hours of hand fitting, bedding, and finishing (sanding/oiling) to do.

No This is a M91 stock. No sling cut outs, no screw holes in it, nothing. The receiver and barrel are 1916r. Under the buttplate, the stock is engraved 903r.
I have never seen this on a stock either! I am not finding any info online about this. So thought I'd throw it out there. Also, to help, the handguard has brass ends, held on with copper rivets. Now I know the stock and hanguard may not have started out together, but it is correct for the time period. HELP !!
UPDATE: I understand that engraving the date behind the buttplate was common on pre28 M91's by civilian stockmakers "escorted" into service. Seems they still wanted to retain a bit of the artisan! My stock is marked 903r. The number one being left out. As if they felt the rifle wouldn't last past the millenium anyway! Now that is a feel of history! Still looking for a toe splice...

Sounds like a great find. Sorry, I thought you were talking about 3rd party stocks.

After 90 years, and probably several trips to the arsenals, who knows. One way or the other it would be great to know the actual history of that 91.

Can you post a few pics?

See- Nice rifle! But in the mid $300's!!!!! But then again, it's a Finn! His stock has sling escutcheons, mine doesn't. We could trade magazines and have two correct rifles.
