Man Open Fires on City Council in Mo.

KIRKWOOD, Mo. - Ten days after losing a free-speech lawsuit against this St. Louis suburb, a gunman stormed a council meeting, yelled "Shoot the mayor!" and opened fire, critically wounding the mayor, killing two police officers and three city officials. ...

Hmmmm....pretty bitter wasn't he? That one is a double topic: free speech and right to bare arms. But, I don't see where his free speech was violated. SHEESH! In fact, all it says is in the 2nd article is that he was basically making noises in the town hall meetings and what not. IDC how much you apreciate free speech, I don't think that includes being disruptive.

I need more info on that guy's motivations.

I don't condone what he did, this incident gives us all a black eye! with that being said, I can understand his apparent level of frustration, I noticed his brother is calling this an act of war! and is not apologizing for his brothers actions. apparently the local city council had been messing with him over some construction equiptment he had parked at his house. appears another shooting on some college campus in Louisiana details are rather Unclear at this time but does involve 3 females including the shooter.

Another case of a man who snapped and chose the wrongest course of action possible. After dealing with my own feuds and disputes with City Hall and the IRS I can fully understand his frustration. But there is no reason it should have ever ever have come to this. Saddest is the fact that he took out innocent people trying to do what they were hired to do and lost his own life from a crummy rage inspired act. It's beyond sad!

It would appear to me much easier to just move away from the authority of the city council, now he has made martyrs out of a bunch of people who are probably as corrupt as the day is long! and given a black eye to those of us that own guns.

Unhappy

Unfortunately it's incidents like this that add fuel to the Anti campaign. This is exactly the sort of incident which led to the British handgunners losing their guns. Rest assured there will be those calling for your blood. My advice to every shooter is, support your shooting organisations and write to your representatives to counter any attempts to disarm you............................................... .................................................. .............
I've been there, I had my handguns confiscated by my government!! (.22 Ruger, 9mm CZ75, Colt Gold Cup, Dan Wesson .357)

Apparently, the man had been raising Cain at meetings for years. If that's true, his sanity may have been a little questionable to begin with, depending on what he was carrying on about and how disruptive he was.

punish the brother for what? I don't recall him making any threats? we may not agree with the brothers prospective but? that doesn't make him culpable!what is everyone unhappy, that the police cheated them out of a conviction? he did the crime, justice was swift and he paid for his actions.

I read where he'd just gotten a losing decision in regards to a Freedom of Speech case like only 10 days before doing this. That paired with it would appear he attended just about every council meeting with a problem or complaint, and the fact he did such a horrible thing, would tend to prove he was a few cards short of a full deck.

Thought it too insensitive or politically incorrect had I said "a few bullets short of a full magazine" as I initially thought to do. Glad I decided not to. Someone else may have done it, I'd of been chastised had I/ lol

But yea, he was a bit of a nut job as I see it. Now where do ya' suppose he got the gun he used?
