I could always tell when we were getting close to shore and about to go to "Sea and Anchor Detail". The dolphins would be jumping along the boat and acting like a welcoming commitee. I kinda miss those days.

Sometimes we would go dead in the water and have swim call. We had two Gunners Mates with scoped .30-06 rifles, watching for sharks. We would be swimming and they would come over the 1MC and tell us how deep the water was. "You are swimming in water 9,875 ft. deep!" Scat! We would dive down to the screws and hold on for a few seconds, then surface for air. The water around Cuba and the Bahamas was beautiful and deep! You could see down a long ways. Kinda spooky! LOL!

| Senior Member | yeah we had a great time. that was the most "dolphin fish" that we ever caught. i hooked into something when we were trolling and fought it for about fifteen min. then it broke the line and it was 100lb test line. never got to see it since it went "deep" the cpt. said it was probably a shark or a big yellow fin tuna. we go down there every year and i have been going out with the same capt. for about 6 yrs. now.
