Prison looming

I don't know how the rest of you guys and gals on this forum feel about the upcoming presidental election but I feel that I am just waiting for the prison door to clang shut shortly after "whoever" takes office.
I feel that not only is our precious "Bill of Rights" at stake but the entire U.S. Constitution as well as our way of life and all that our fore fathers held and we hold sacred. to tell the truth I'm damn scared!

well CYRILLE, i totally agree with you. but the most important thing we can do is make sure that the republicans retake either the house or senate. it would be much better to take both back, but we have to get at least one back. that way we might be able to at least deadlock congress. and as you know a deadlocked congress is a lot better for us.

I think it may not be as bad as it seems. If we get McCain/Paul or McCain/Huckabee I think they'll beat Obama or Hillary in any combination. Bush, while generally pro-gun, hasn't exactly been a boon to the 2A or the bill of rights in general (although much better than the alternatives in either election). I think (God forbid) if the Dems do get in the White House that we're in for a few years of the dark ages, at least as far as 2A and civil liberties are concerned. Perhaps Congress will balance this out.

Don't give up yet brother! We can still vote for Senators and Congressmen. We need Conservative thinking people with some common sense on both sides of the aisle. I will never give up! That's a sign of weakness! I will bend my Representatives ear day and night if I have to and so will you because you are a good American and you want what's best for our country and our children!

Well TXplt I certainly pray that what you suggest happens. But you know about if it's the biggest two letter word in the English language--- If if was a skif we'd all go boating, if wishes were Mustangs, beggers would ride.

I've always felt the people of the United States are best served when one house of Congress is controlled by one party, and the other by 'tother party, regarldess of which bunch of crooks is in the White House. That way, a bill has to have bipartisan support to make it out of Congress and on to the President's desk.

When we tend to have trouble is when one party controls BOTH houses of Congress; and we have the most trouble when that party also controls the White House. That means whichever party has the reins has no more between them and their whims than a wolf has; and they will try to legislate with impunity, e.g., Slick Willy and the Democratic Congress passing the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, and Curious George and the Republican Congress passing the Patriot Act.

The nation as a whole needs the current level of polarization to end. I am afraid that if it does not, before too long we are going to split apart like a badly cast bell that is struck too hard.

(Of course, if along the way we get to hang some of the most egregious offenders agains the public weal off handy light poles, that would be fine too.)

Oh I'm not about to "throw in the towel" Brother Bob. Like one of our famous, fearless frointersmen once said, I may have been confused and turned around for a day or two but I ain't never been lost! Well that's the way I feel now confused, scared and turned around, but eventually I'll find my way "out of the woods."

Just wondering. I had a condo on Dauphin Island and we always drove through Bayou La Batre on our way there. I just thought you might be close. Hadn't been down there since before Katrina. Met some pretty nice folks from your state while there. One guy was true-enough Cajun and said he'd take me shrimping. Really nice folks.

Been to Dauphin Island quite a bit, used to do CW re-enacting there and also did S.C.A. re-enacting there. Nice place but all that was pre-Katrina.
Last time I was there was in the late ninties.

Libertarianism

Your feelings are exactly why so many of us are
moving away from the two major "sold to special
interest" parties and are moving toward the
Libertarian Party. That does not mean we support
every stance of the Libertarian Party but we
are supporting and hoping to influence some
of their positions.

I loved it down there. My wife and I would take the girls down there during spring break. It was the first time they had seen the ocean. They would cover their eyes when we went across the bridge! LOL!

Senator McCain and Finegold are the ones that got campain finance reform passed, thus doing away with our most important ammendment, the 1st ammendment.Hillary,s husband tryed to do away with the second amendment and Obama promises to do even better. And you mention the libertarian party. They do not believe in much of anything including taxes and drug control.Legalise drugs and things are going to get wierd(Not that they arent now)and do away with taxes and you do away with the military, justice system, the ability for government to negotiate trade with other countries and such.Four years after we had no one to vote for we are back to the position of having no one to vote for. sam.

Well I'm not that knowledgeable about the Federal justice system, but what I've seen of the state and local "justice systems" They need a major overhaul, to say the least.
Of course I live very close to "Chocolate City" so my view may be a bit jaundiced.

I feel if Huckabee makes it to the White House you'll never have to worry about the Constitution while he's there.

All and all I feel we need another party for the people, but how do we go about organizeing one ?
I can understand big business and special interest lobbying Congress and takeing the Goverment a way from the people because thats where the moneys at.
Voteing I beleive know longer works. So what do we do to take back our country ?

I kinda feel like Cyrille does but I have hope, I have hope that Huckabee if elected will work hard to righten the wrongs of our Goverment. But I really don't feel a man can help us.
Who ever is elected will have a full plate of problems here and around the world.
And as two-70 said weve got to pray and put our trust back in the Lord to guide who ever is elected. That is the answear wether some beleive it or not.
We need a revival in America, a spritual awakening and whats wrong with that ?
We as a nation need to be Blessable ! Weve turned our back on God as a nation and he has turned his back BUT HE'S LISTENING and if we call out the flood gates of Heaven will open and we want even have room to contain the blessings.

I would like to see Huckabee elected but I also know who ever is elected will need super natural help from God.
A.H

Hey Cyrille! My mother was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana… She use to talk about it with fond memories God rest her soul…

I don’t think you have to worry about it too much Cyrille… I don’t will see in our lifetime, if fact I don’t think my children will either… Now my grandchildren might and by then I might be a good thing… The world doesn’t change that fast, but moves a little slower then we like to think… I know it’s hard to have faith sometimes but I believe that God has more control then we can see… If you are luck enough to have the time to communicate with God a lot, the mind gets to a point were you can see divine orchestration… It becomes quite obvious that free will is really an illusion…. A nice illusion but never the less an illusion…. I don’t remember who said it but that fear was the only thing to fear in it self… Speaking of cool saying here is one!

Fear is perhaps the greatest enemy of candor. How many men fear to follow their consciences because they would rather conform to the opinion of other men than to the truth they know in their souls? How can I be sincere if I am constantly changing my mind to conform with the shadow of what I think others expect of me? Others have no right to demand that I be anything other than what I ought to be in the sight of God............ Thomas Merton, No man is as island

Point being… don’t worry be happy!
