We should have let Patton kick their azz at the end of WWII like he wanted to do! We should have let McArthur go into China during the Korean War and kick their azz, too!

Putin is a Russian bad boy, former KGB officer, and wishes for a return to the old regime so he can do as he pleases. He has been doing the stirring of emotion against the West in order to further his own agenda. This act of choosing his own successor is a sure sign that he wants to continue on the bebuilding of the Soviet empire. He's still pi$$ed that his side lost the cold war!

I can see how U.S. missiles in eastern Europe would worry the Russians just as we did not want their missiles in Cuba or Vietnam. I hope we can reach an acceptable understanding as America has enough problems now without adding Russia again.

They feel they have no option

I am an American and I love and support our nation. I have a very good friend from Russia and do often read Pravda and The Moscow Times.

One of Russia's big problems is the George Bush foreign policy. Now he wants to build an American missile base closer to Moscow than the middle eastern areas he considers a threat. This is just not working with the Russian people. They are more fearful of interference and bullying from George Bush and Ms. Rice than any threat to world peace from Iran.

I absolutely believe our nation should have all the defense needed for our protection. It is the employment/deployment of this power that produces much of the support for Putin that in turn ratchets up the arms race.

So, it is the same old thing : America builds a new plane and Russia builds a new plane - America builds a new missile and Russia builds a new missile.
It just goes on and on to the tune of trillions in dollars and rubles.
