Federal, Remington, Hornady, most any name brand, they're all good. My opinion. If you want the best accuracy you can get though, get a fired brass from the rifle and have reloads custom made from the specs from that brass. I'm sure you'll get lots of input on this.

The best way would be to load your own.

That takes time and is costly at first. If you're looking to buy factory loaded ammo at a retailer (like Midway, Cabelas, Wal Mart, etc), then I would go for Federal first. Winchester, Honady, and Remington also make very good ammo, but I've had the best luck with Federal.

Do you mean CCI Stingers? I didn't even look at the section that I was posting in...

Don't try to handload rimfire ammo...I don't even think that it's possible, let alone practical.

Ok, so we're talking .22...this is a completely different story, ignore my previous post, lol.

For .22, I'd definitely recommend CCI Stingers, they are very accurate and very reliable.

Many rimfires are quite ammunition sensitive. It's a good idea to try several brands and types of ammunition and find out what shoots best in your rifle.

I agree with aht six! Shoot every brand you can, and find out what she eats best.

I would agree also. Try every brand you can find that are hollow points since your going to use them to hunt with.

I would also like to add that I am currently shooting Lapua Pistol Match and it's is really accurate, and consistent!

They are great rounds. I like the velcitors over the stingers, However try a few brands of ammo before you pick you favorite. Some guns like different kinds of ammo. But defiently try stingers and velcitors!

The first rim fire ammo I would try is all the Federals 1st. and then go from there...A.H

My experience, when you go to fast little bullets in .22lr the accuracy isnt as great and if sighted in with 1600fps or so bullets, when you go back to regular bullets at about 1100fps you have to sight in again. The stinger and such arent as easy to find and cost more. For what I want out of a .22lr I stick with the 36gr hp,s or 40gr rn,s which shoot about the same place and get the job done. sam.

Suqirrelbaster I don't like Federal either. The only problem with stingers is accuracy. However He's not taliking about target shooting either. Not to change the subject but I too have had problems with federal shotgun cartridges. Too hard of a primer. Fired the thing 4 or 5 times dented it, tried another cartridge Bam!

Find what shoots best in your gun a perfect hit with any 22 is better than a miss no- matter how powerful the shells are. PS you never said what you are hunting I've hunted squirrels with every thing from CB caps to stingers if hit right they all work if you miss none of them do.

Everyone might think im nuts but all I use for hunting is the Remington golden bullet in the 550 "bonus pack". Its a plated 36 grain hollow point. Using that bullet in my 10/22 with a 3x9 Simmons scope on it is just plain not fair to the bushy tails or cottontails. Plus the plated round doesnt lead up your barrel. I do like the CCI Stinger for more power. Never tried it but im sure it could take down a yote at close range.
