Saiga

Didn't know for sure where this question would fall but wanted to ask for opinions on the Saiga rifles. To me they look like AKs with sporter stocks on them. Look like a lot of fun.

My questions are...

Are they just AKs with sporter stocks? If so ignore the rest.

Are they well made?

Are they reasonably reliable and easy to maintain?

Are they reasonably accurate?

Do they multiply in your gun safe?

Thanks for your imput.

Tex

Saigas are AK's. They are the "newest version" out of Russia. They do not work with "normal" AK magazines or parts without modification.

They are very well made.

I would imagine they are as reliable and easy to maintain as any AK.

billy gets 1.5" MOA out of his .308Win Saiga.

Not sure if Saiganitis has any confirmed cases as of yet.

Also their innerworkings, FCG(fire control group) i think, is moved farther back so that the sporter stock can be used. I think they are awesome at a great price. You can modifiy them to have pistorl grips etc as long as you do certain things like have atleast 4 american parts etc. check out saiga-12.com and click on the forums.

yep i like mine just fine.
i had it for a year or so before i got the itch for a p-grip etc.
i liked it in the sporter configuration.
but i couldnt leave well enough alone.

i havent bought another because i switched gears in my gun collecting.
now it's sixshooters and precision bolt rifles.
but if i was ever going to buy another AK i would go with a saiga.
