While we are paying record high prices for oil the price of gas seems to be going down,Shell down to $2.93 from $2.96 a couple of days ago. While I was pondering this illogical situation it dawned on me...IT'S ELECTION TIME!

Out side my home town unleaded gas is $ 2.71 to $2.79 and ''here'' it's avg. is $ 2.84 a gallon. The $ 2. 70 plus is in a small town that my son moved to, 91 miles away. I can't figure why it's cheaper there...A.H |

I just did a rough conversion, and by my bad maths you fellas have got nothing to whinge about when it comes to fuel prices. You pay $2.96 for unleaded a gallon. We pay $1.50 a litre for the same. There are roughly 3.7 litres in a gallon so we end up paying around $4.50 a gallon.I want to know how much you are paying for diesel?I am paying $1.55 a litre. Its absolute bullshit. It now costs me $220 to fill my truck when six months ago it cost $180.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the reason that Europeans and Austrailians pay so much for gas, isnt because the fuel is really more expensive, but rather that the taxes on the fuel is insane. If that is the case, We can still whine.

What I mean is, if the extra cost of fuel for you is due to taxation, then the actual cost for the fuel itself is comparable. It isnt my fault that your people have laid down and allowed your government to sodomize you at the pump via taxing the life out of gas. So far, the Americans havent allowed the government to treat us like a prison boyfried at the pump.... yet (with regard to the level of taxation that you experience at the pump) Hence, we can still complain about the cost of gas. If we allowed the gov. to tax gas higher than it is now, then we could only blame ourselves.

Irish, I think ALL of us are gettin' the shaft because our governments are in cahoots with the producers. The US hasn't built a new refinery in so long I can't remember. Why? Well they say it's because of pollution, but I think it's another conspiracy(here we go again!)! That's the only reason I can see for not refining our own oil. We're sending OUR crude(some of it) elsewhere for refining, and THEN where does it go? The oil companies have got to be dealing directly with the governments of the world to get away with their cute little tricks.

I think lots of different reasons... Tax the biggest in Pennsylvania. And the refinery another topic. Irish the diesel in this area is at $3.55 a gallon. Lots of folks trying to get away with off road diesel at about half the cost. But they have the patrols out and have caught a few, givin out some healthy fines. Yep some complain, maybe me on occasion but a lot of folks here are not complaining about Coke,Pepsi, fancy water Per gallon. They just buy it and don't say a thing.

Ya' know, Nanders, that's some pretty insulting stuff you just said to IrishMurphy. But, that's the way it is when little punk ass shitheads like you can talk shit all day long and never have to answer for it, because you only do it on the internet.

What is the off road diesel? Is it for farm machinery and earthmoving vehicles? The farmers here used to get a discount on diesel. But the govt got rid of it.I really cant see why diesel costs so much. Its low grade crap that can be made from cooking oil.I guess its because we need it.I dont own any petrol vehicle(well none that i drive) both my vehicle and the mrs are diesel 4wds.It is even getting expensive to run a LPG powered vehicle.Gas is now selling at $0.70c a litre last time i looked. My mate has a 4wd running LPG.Not much economy really.Costs less but it gets chewed twice as quick.
