picked up a chinese sks

I picked up a brand new chinese sks yesterday for 250 dollars. They said it was unissued and it was so packed with cosmoline i believe it (took me 6 hours to clean it out, and im sure it will still sweat when i take it shooting) theres a few little knicks in the wood which im assuming are from storage. From what I've read the Chinese used lighter and cheaper wood which would explain the markings on the stock, but other then that the gun is flawless. I had a hard time choosing between a Yugo and a Chinese one but I'm pretty happy with my decision.

mitch you made the right choice (IMO) i love my chinese sks they are great guns! i am however not abig fan of the yugos the weigh more, are longer, and dont have a chromed barrel, i know some people like them but i cant figure out why.

I got mine from a local gun shop (discount gun) it was the first time I've purchased anything from them but I'm pretty happy with it. You can also check online at places like classicarms.com, j&gsales.com. Just search around and you will find some pretty good deals

yea, I'm glad I got the chromed barrel, it makes me less worried when shooting corrosive ammo. The thing that detoured me from the yugo sks was the grenade launcher and the weight, although I would eventually like to have one someday.

You did good, that rifle is a beauty. The last Chinese SKS I saw was about $325.00 and looked horible. It was at a local gun show last year.

elmer fudd,
You can try these sights, but you wont get a bargain. You may even find it hard to get one at a far price.

Where, pray tell, are you finding corrosive ammo for a SKS?

That's what I was wondering. Not to mention why would they bother to shoot it when there's stuff, and tons of it, that isn't that one can shoot. lol

Yep.. I ordered a case of Wolf Poly tonight from Aim, and grabbed some .30 Carbine for my CMP Inland, if it ever shows up..

1000 rounds of Wolf was $170 + $17 shipping to my door.
