Red face Hearing Protection

Hi there

I am thinking about buying some electronic headphones for my boyfriend who shoots at the range about 2 times a week. I found some Caldwell brand online that seemed pretty cheap... wondering if anyone else has used these and how they liked them. Here's a link...

EAR-108 - Caldwell Hearing Protection E85S Electronic Stereo Blocks Noise Above 85dB - Manufactured by: Battenfeld Technologies

Are the more expensive options any better?

Thanks in advance

I have to buy several sets for the kids and purchased 5 pair of the cheapies 3yrs ago and by remembering to remove batteries when not in use and not beat them around all are still working and the kids love them.I believe they only hear from one side. But your boyfriend will love anything that he can be protected with and still hear a conversation at the range.Yes the higher priced ones are better in the sense that they are less bulky usually. sam.

I am blessed with grandchildren and other peoples children in #,s beyond counting sometimes.(I can only count to 4, 3 is a big # to me)I bought 5 protectors because that was all I wanted. They are usually.I only borrow these little angels, and always have to give them back as their parents really love them.I find this true with most gun owners. sam.

First off, welcome to G&G. Glad you decided to join us.

Might I suggest spending a little more and getting this model of Caldwell muffs?
Caldwell Sound Right Es-85 Stereo Earmuffs, Shooting Supplies, Caldwell at Sportsman's Guide

I think you'll find these are much better. Same protection, just more durable is all. Not to mention better made & better circuitry.

Are these things better made and more effective than they were say 5 or so years ago? I borrowed a pair of "high quality" electronic ear muffs while prairie dog hunting and they would not block out much noise at all. Shot once and my ears started ringing. Put back on my mickey mouse ears with plugs.
