Greetings,

My dad has an Inland M1 but with a stock I haven't seen anywhere else. Did the M1's come with a stock that slides out from the gun? It does not fold/flip out but slides to flat with the rear handle. I know the regular stock is solid and the paratrooper model folds but have been unable to find this slider anywhere.
This is my first post but I have searched this site and coudn't find any past posts.

A friend of mine has one of those. Its just a wire stock that slides into a wooden stock and into the handle flush with a wooden fore grip. I forget where they came from but as soon as I find out I'll let you know unless someone beats me to it. Maybe Moose knows off the bat.

The stock is most likely one made by Bianchi during the late '60's. This was referred to as a Commando stock normally but sometimes referred to as a Paratrooper. Bianchi called it the M4 and it retailed for about $22.
Iver Johnson and Plainfield also had a stock similiar to the one mentioned but theirs came with a forward pistol grip. I don't believe, however, that IJ or Plainfield sold the stock as a replacement.

Maybe it is an IJ or Plainfield because his has the forward pistol grip but he purchased his M1 in the early 60's.

In that case, maybe IJ and Plainfield did sell the stock alone...<grin>.
Hang on to it...they are fairly rare unless you want to sell it to me. lol

The pages I have with the information aren't dated so IJ and Plainfield may have put the stock out in the early 60's; I found out about them around 1967 when I returned from overseas.
