I changed the springs in my pa63 last night with the kit from makarov.com (new recoil spring, firing pin spring, and hammer spring). I shot one magazine of hornady 9x18 first with no issues. I then loaded a mag full of wolf 9x18 that I just picked up from ammo man. 1/3 to 1/2 of the rounds did not fire. I tried another box with the same issue. I shot through the rest of the box of hornady rounds that I had with zero problems. Is this typical of wolf? Is the firing pin spring not strong enough to fire it? Does anyone know if the firing pin that comes with the wolf spring kit is weaker or stronger then the original? Thanks for any help.
I'm almost certain that the replacement firing pin spring is weaker than the original in order to compensate for the weaker replacement hammer spring. FWIW, I haven't had any trouble with Wolf ammo in my PA63, which only has a replacement recoil spring.
You probably have put a weaker hammer spring in than a 11#. If not put the heavier stock on back in and try shooting the wolf. Sounds like really hard primers. I had the same issue with any ammo when I used anything weaker than 11# hammer spring.
We all like a light trigger but reliability usually should take presidence, at least it does for me.
