I have experience with this stuff and it gets excellent accuracy. you can find it at gunshows in the green spamcans, it is identified by the silver tipped steelcore bullet and the red sealant at the base of the bullet and on the primer.

this target was shot at 50 yards.

That's about 'par' for Bulgarian... if you buy in bulk, the price goes down:
J&GSales.com bulgarian-heavy-ball-fmj
Buy 3 or more and their price per 300 drops from $45.93 to $42.30 and shipping to me in Edmonds is $37.84 for 900 rounds (3x300), so $54.92 per 300, shipped to my door.

That's just for reference so that you know what you can get online so they don't try to swindle you at the show.

Also try AIM surplus. They have some light and heavy ball for good prices.

There's a lot of good mil-surp, but I wouldn't use it for long-range target work. The exception is the N-71 sniper ammo that crops up occasionally. Most of the mil-surp is pretty inconsistent at long range.

The Bulgarian is brass-cased. Like other MilSurp it is Berdan primed and corrosive. Unlike other Milsurp the brass has recycling value.

I don't shoot MilSurp very often, but, when I get lazy... I'm down to about 80 rounds (of Bulgarian heavy ball) so it's time for a trip to J&G...

Sportsmansguide.com will match the J&G price for bulgarian and shipping is only $10.00. I recieved some more today and it looks new and had the packing slip from 1956. Nothing like the smell of 102 year old air.

I know I was told to keep the higher math off this board, but don't you mean 52 year old air?...

And thanks for the heads-up on the Sportsmansguide.

I figured the air was 50 years old before it was sealed in the tin.

Too funny!!

I have and do use some russian and some bulgarian Light ball and its a pretty good all around ammo.. not for long range TARGET shooting but pretty accurate..Got the bulgy from J&G and the russian from a local dealer ( local 80 miles from me )I find the light does well in both long and short Rifles but the heavy doent do well in my m44 or m38

If you want the big BOOM and the, always fun fireball, then Bulgarian heavy ball is a top pick.

I shoot it when I want the maximum effect of noise and fire. I shoots very well in both of my M44's. I haven't tried it in the 91/30.
