Get the Solicitor General's amicus brief in DC v. Heller withdrawn!

As most of us know, Solicitor General Paul Clements, presumably at the direction of George W. Bush, filed an amicus brief in the DC Gun Ban Case, DC v. Heller. In that brief, Clements urged the Supreme Court to kick the case back down to the Court of Appeals and have them review it again, using a much lower standard than they used to affirm that the DC Gun Ban is plainly unconstitutional and unreasonable; which is why the case ended up on the Supremes' docket.

Clements wants the appellate court to reconsider their ruling, using the standard of what is "reasonable" under the Constitution. That is the lowest legal criterion that may be used. If heed is paid to this amicus brief, it would be a major blow to the pro-gun rights supporters and a major blow against overturning a plainly unconstitutional law.

Congressman Virgil Goode of Virginia has written a letter to President Bush, urging him to order Solicitor General Clements to withdraw that amicus brief. He is looking for other Congressmen to endorse the letter and give it their support.

I urge you all to email or telephone your Representatives. Lean on them to add their support to Congressman Goode's letter. The more signatories that letter has, the better the chance of getting that damnable amicus brief, which stands in contrast to the ringing affirmation of the Second Amendment as an absolute, individual right made by the Justice Department while John Ashcroft was Attorney General, withdrawn from consideration by the Supreme Court.

It's time to stand up and be counted, ladies and gentlemen. It's time to act. We may never have a better chance than we do next Tuesday, March 18, 2008, to secure our Second Amendment rights for ourselves and posterity.

Doesn't guarantee it, it confirms an inalienable and pre-existing right that can not be removed. But, yes, you're right in your thinking that the D.C. ban is VERY unconstitutional and that's why it's in question.

They ( dem der politicians that is) only banned them for fear someone would take aim at one of them. My thinking about it anyhow. I'd never condone such a thing, but it's the only thing I can think of as to why they'd of banned them in D.C. for the past what, almost 30 years, give or take a few?
