This forum is quite civil, and there is a lot of disagreeing among some members but I don't think it ever gets too unrest. You think this forum gets bad, you should check out some kung fu forums. It is way more cut throat, and unfortunately a lot of the martial arts circles and social activities are the same way. It always comes down to my style is better than yours, or my lineage is right and yours is wrong.

The problem is that we are a dynamic bunch and all have our own thoughts. While some members have trolled me into arguments over certain things I don't really ever get all that worked up or bothered over it. I think some members do. I know that most people on this forum, or at least a lot of them are so die hard about their rights to firearms or their religion they lose sight of what someone might be saying. It is hard also to express things like sarcasm in written text. Where as in actual face to face interaction, I can give facial expressions and tone of voice to show that I am being sarcastic. I guess smilies, or emoticons can give that function but I hardly ever use them.

Maybe someday everyone will find some common ground, find compromise, and just get over it, but who knows. As far as this forum being filled with rude arguments, I'd have to disagree. This is one of the more friendlier forums I have been to; and I have been to a lot of them.

The PowderKeg forum would be pretty boring if we all agreed all the time. For the most part poster's seem to be typing rationally I think. I know I have had to edit a post or two that went from sarcastic to down-right mean. Personal attacks gain you nothing in a discussion.

On a lighter Note, Wed was my Birthday, so everyone put in your order for drinks and I'll take care of em for ya tonight.

To be honest disagreement and debate with conversation and sharing of ideas is a good thing what I oppose both here and elsewhere I have been on this lil magic box is the name calling (and I don't mean the good natured ribbing sort either) and the anger I see in some who have been here. I also must point out those sorts rarely last very long here which is another thing that makes this such a fun and friendly place to be for me.

To me, this is one great site! I love the varied opinions and wisdom delivered from a rather eclectic group. Bonded together from all over creation. Not just people, but some I consider true friends, and I've never met any of them! There is something just outstanding going on here, and I hope we all work at making it even better. Now, about that pie...

I would like to say thankyou jimkim for not letting this die. Midas (i think)banned me for bringing this topic up before. When asked why i was promptly rebanned and not told a thing. My experience on here was mostly for the good. I enjoyed discussing guns. For reasons unknown to me i guess people dont want to be critisized about their bad language. Hope you dont get banned for the same thing.

ps. If anyone here can get me reinstated i would really appreciate it. At least ask questions for y i was banned when i did not go against any forum rules.

Thanks to all who read,

Why do you have to bring religion into it?Religion has been the cause of so much bloody hardship and war.If you believe in it fine by me,But i dont want to hear about it.I practice my own religion.Which is nothing.I dont have a religion and thats the way i like it.Why do christians have to spread the word? Why cant they just keep it too themselves?I get so cranky when they knock on the door and try and feed me their religious crap.Especially when its sunday morning and they wake me up.So AH i dont have anything personal against you mate,i just dont believe in the religious crap.dont take it personal.Maybe you should think about not voicing your religious views to people who arent religious and then maybe they wont bur up?I guess some of you religious people will now think im a heathern, but thats all right with me,I AM.

If someone wants to look too far into it, they probably will.

My wife and I were also banned without warning by someone. ??? We were reinstated by the forum owner.

AH
I too don't come here for exercises in religion. I won't reply to threads with overtones to it. Better to leave it at the door.

I love this website too ...we all have our areas of "expertise" in gun related topics and everyone here has been incredibly helpful to me... hopefully I have been helpful to others too.

It is tough to NOT get into politics, especially given the fact the 2nd Amendment is so much dear to all of us and it is constantly being attacked by politicians... not to mention an election year with consequences for us all... thus the strong opinions and debates.

I believe that people are here with good intentions. I am certain that the administrators know who the trouble makers are and I'm certain have requested them to knock it off or leave. Heck ... I'm probably on their mailing list! lol...

All I know is that I look forward to the gun related topics and look forward to gleaning whatever information I can ... and to offer whatever expertise I have to those who may be in need.

What i dont understand is why the admins dont give warning before bannings. I agree with what uve said, not everyone is going to agree with everything but keep your tempers cool.

Hi backatcha Jerry!!!

It goes without saying that everything has rules and regulations that need to be followed.

I think it is unfortunate when a member is banned without being warned or notified that they are in risk of being banned. It's terrible to be banned, though and not know what, if anything you did wrong, or what you did to offend somebody when you are sure that you committed no infractions but simply fell into disfavor with somebody because they just didn't like you. If a forum moderator is biased in his or her treatment of forum members, sorry, they shouldn't be moderators then. There is no room for that kind of behavior in a 'leader' any more than there is room for bad behavior on the parts of the members.

Well, it's hard to like everyone, but it's easy to respect everyones opinions even if you don't believe in them yourself. I've seen some pretty rude conduct go unnoticed on this forum, and I've also seen some pretty neat support happen also.

We've made good friends on this site. Two of them really went to bat for us when we were banned without reason or warning. You know who you are, guys, and we can't say thanks enough

The way I look at it a forum is like a TV program. If you don't like it, hit the close button and move on. But in the meantime, respect others opinions, beliefs and passions.

Agreed ... as long as the name calling is not rampant (where an administrator warning is prudent) and there are no threats to personal safety (which should be an immediate ban with a reason) ... I think we're doing pretty good here.

I've seen much worse elsewhere...

I like this forum, it has given me some insight on what a lot of gun owners think. A few members have even changed my views on a few aspects of our government and interpretations of related things. It is hard to accomplish that task, to actually change someone's view. Most people are so stuck behind their own ideas, which were usually taught to them as they grew up they can never let go of them.

This forum tends to have some level headed people, and not your stereotypical gun nut, like some of my redneck cousins, yes thats right I am part redneck! hahaha

I have to say that I had a very different impression of what your average gun owner would think and believe but I am glad I came here. It has been a definite learning experience across the board. Too bad my rifle advice thread went crazy on caliber, but I guess thats what happens when you got too many cooks in the kitchen.

I didnt start this thread to start a war. All I was getting at was that we all need to respect other people's opinions and their right to have them. We dont have to agree on everything. Just because we differ on somethings doesnt meen we cant be friends. not a cumbaya moment lol

I do not like pumpkin pie.

Pumpkins are for Jack O'Lanterns.

Anyone who says otherwise should be rounded up and sent to camps run by the Commie-Nazis and destroyed. And made into soap. And lampshades...and lampshades carved out of soap.

Heh.

I will say, I spar a bit with a few of you (right, AH? Larry?) but I wouldn't say I've ever felt insulted or put upon by anyone here. We do have differing views, and sometimes we have to agree to disagree and maybe try to gently change some minds (like on the gay thing), but that's as far as it goes.

But then the rest of the time I lurk in the more technical threads to learn, and you can always count on me to chime in on a good dog thread or find articles about good self-defense shootings.

Even the election threads have been shockingly civil compared to some places.

Really, you guys ever see 4Chan? Or read YouTube comment threads? Makes us look like monks.
