G&G forum

The one thing that drew me to G&G was it's "Frendliest gun forum on the internet" billing. I am disturbed by the lack of respect some members have for another's opposing views. I understand passion, but passion without moderation is reckless and often does more harm than good. Can we please enter into a more civil and thoughtful debate. In a time when we as gun owners face an uncertain future we need to be united. We can not be united if we are too busy squabling amongst ourselves. I believe AH says it best "It dont cost nothing to be nice" If we are nicer we are more likely to find common ground. Finally if I have offended anyone here I formally apologize now. Jim

Agree

I agree and am working to do what you suggest. Note, it really a smaller number of posters who seem to go to extremes.

Nice post jimkim. I agree that this is the friendliest forum on the internet but when people are debating questions on which they have strong opinions the subject can get heated. However this is done without cursing or attempting to personally insult or belittle the person with the opposing opinion. Occasionally it may go too far and a moderator will step in but I have seen several times that one party will suggest that they change the subject and go talk about guns and the other will agree. They stay friends. All of us agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is free to express it. I agree that thoughtfulness and civil replies should be used.

jimkim,I agree with you 100%....There are some threads that I will not reply to because I don't want or need to have my thoughts and opinions thrashed.I know that a person has the right to their own opinions but there are a few who go way over the line.I have been shocked at some of the anger and name calling on some of these threads, they have turned into personal attacks.A person can disagree without the hurtfull comments......Some members I feel need to take a anger managment class!

Talking

G&G is really a friendly forum, some I have visited are full of snobs and real whacko's and consider themselves to be elite,an over used word for sure.
The guys and gals on G&G are a great bunch!

JimKim,

This forum like many others goes in spurts...kinda like seasons. We used to have a forum for this called the political section...it poured over into other areas of the site, and while many may debate this point it made this site feel like it was going down the tubes! I moved it to a section where only contributors can access it. Thanks to those who have contributed by the way...you have made this site possible for many others! My thoughts were behind it if you have a subscription to this site you will also use a bit more level headedness when posting, so far so good.

While I have been truly blessed to have some great members/friends to do the moderating and put up with headaches we can't be everywhere. We are pretty relaxed about what is posted. I can only ask people to lead by example.

This site is what YOU make of it. So far, it's pretty awesome. Let's keep it that way.

The only problem I have is when we have a Thread that could and sometimes become's HOT.
When I express my views that has a religious content some memebrs that arn't Christian seem to resent it and get bent out of shape.
There are quiet a few Christians at this site so why can't we share our views like the non Christians do ?

Example: Some could care less about Gays getting married. Some could care less about Abortion's.
Well if your a Born Again God fearing Christian and beleive the Bible then you'll be opposed to this due to it adds to the sins of this nation because it's wrong.

Our Country has enough problems as it is.

I accept the fact theres a lot of non Christians here and you are so intitled to your oppinion and belief and WE RESPECT that !!!

Please don't get upset when we address issues that require or can require a Christians view about the subject.

Most of the Threads that bring up I'll's here are not Gun and Game related and when that happens lets please keep a level head and respect each others comment's
that's only fair isn't it ?

I don't hate anyone here nor do I mean any harm to anyone, I feel I've made enough post here where members can tell what kind of person I am and I don't think anyone would say I'm bad or undesirable.
Matter of fact I'll be the first in line to help you.
Love A.H
