Safe to shoot steel shot

I have a S&W 1000 Super 12, 3" chamber Multi-Choke barrel with Factory Full Choke Tube. Is it safe to shoot 3" magnums steel shot? Or do I need a diferent choke tube for steel.

If the gun was made post 1985 or abouts yes, it should be good for steel.
If it uses interchangeable chokes, typically good for steel.

Read the side of the choke. The chokes that are very tight full-xfull-turkey, will most likely specify LEAD ONLY. You don't want to choke too tightly with steel for a few different reasons

When shooting steel, your patterns will be tighter through more open chokes, compared to lead. Through experience, Modified is about as tight as you dare go. I'd get another choke tube or two if you have full now.
