| Senior Member ![]() | Mexican drug gangs bringing in high power weapons CNN aired a story yesterday, saying that the Mexican drug gangs are buying Barrett .50 cal rifles and FN 5.7 x 28 pistols among other things from shady U.S. dealers at shows, and then bringing them back to Mexico to use on their police and anyone else that gets in their way. They recently killed a head police man with a Barrett as well as 5 others. CNN set up a car door with a bullet proof vest in front of it and shot it with a Barrett. Needless to say the bullet went through the vest and the door leaving a hole in the door the size of a half dollar. Last edited by Mad Hatter; 03-16-2008 at 09:50 AM. Reason: edit |

| Senior Member ![]() | I am at a loss as to why they are bringing up so much fire power as there does not seem to be much resistance to them at our border. Perhaps to use on rival gangs who might want to rob them or take over their trade. ![]()

| Senior Member ![]() | They want to send a message to who ever trys to get in their way that they mean business !! That FN pistol cartridge (nasty sucker, looks like a short .223), can defeat body armor as well. And that is what they want, to be be able to take down anyone.. |

| Senior Member ![]() | The drug runners are killing each other off for control of the NAFTA Drug Routes! They will also take out any Govt officials that get in their way. I was recently down there and sasome of his first hand. The town of Ojinaga is a case in point.

When an American politician falls prey to one of these guns by an illegal alien, maybe then they will attempt to enforce the border... but my guess is they'll just work on attempting to pacify the U.N. by banning everything. As for the NAFTA highway ... this needs to be repealed. Any politician who is for the NAFTA highway needs to be voted out of office. Frankly, I can't think of a better way to truck drugs and illegals across this nation, not to mention a great route to invade with terror cells.

| Senior Member | They better do something or it will be our police and border police getting shot with those .50 BMGs. That's the problem. They'll use that stuff on Americans. I wish our politicians & Government would worry about crap like this instead of what they can try to ban us or ban us from next.

| Senior Member | Since they didn't apprehend the murderer how do the Police know he got the gun at a gun show in the U.S. There have been reports of some being stolen from gun shops and individuals. This rhetoric about shady gun dealers they can't name at gun shows they can't name sounds like another spin to try to close gun shows.

No, if you want to shut the Mexican drug gangsters out there is a more effective method. Get the Air Force to convert a squadron of Hercules transports into Spectre gunships. Use Predator or Global Hawk (probably the former; Global Hawk is weapons-capable and needed elsewhere) to patrol the border. When you spot the bad guys, send Spectre after them and drop them where they stand. Between the chain guns and the Vulcans nothing much would be left. The tactic would quiet the folks screaming the border (by which they always mean the southern border with Mexico, not the northern border with Canada) is not secure, and appall the bleeding hearts that seem to think the fact Hispanics come illegally into our country through Mexico is somehow OUR fault. It would cost much less than builing a wall that history shows won't stop determined people. Hadrian's Wall didn't keep the Picts and the Vikings out of Roman Britain. The Great Wall of China didn't stop the Mongols from overrunning the place. Even the Berlin Wall didn't keep determined freedom-seekers out of West Berlin. So why bother with one at all? We know it won't work, so let's try something that will! The real question would be, are we willing to tolerate the world's opprobrium and the screams of disapproval and of human rights violations from the UN, or would we have a government with enough backbone to tell the useless natterers, "It's our border. We'll secure it the way we want to. We are tired of being played. Shut up and butt out." I have nothing against legal immigrants. America is a nation of immigrants. It's the illegal ones, the ones who don't want to become American citizens and who send all their money out of the country where it does not benefit America, while simultaneously demanding we take care of them at least as well if not better than we do our own citizens, including doing things in their native tongue becuase, not wanting to stay here, they have no desire to learn English, that I have a problem with.

| "Blazing Saddles" GOV ![]() | The problem with using the military is that the poor Mexicans would be seen as being oppressed by the mean Americans... and the U.N. would hate us even more. As with Cyrano, I have no problems with legal immigrants either... they pay their taxes and are responsible, hard working citizens that followed the law to become a citizen and follow the law in every day actions. I do, however, have a problem with those illegal aliens who enter illegally, become a citizen through identity theft, commit crimes and live a life of lies and deception. The money in these pictures... as you can imagine, is confiscated. We should be using that drug money to strengthen the border to keeping illegal aliens, drugs and gangs like MS-13 out. You are right... it is OUR border.. we will secure it our way. I think the Minutemen have it right... Personally... I like the idea. Last edited by LarryO1970; 03-17-2008 at 01:34 AM. |

| Senior Member | The vast amout of money generated by the illegal drug trade is the very reason why drug interdiction is so blinking dangerous, with that sort of wealth available whoever the drug traders cannot buy off they simply kill off. No one directly involved in drug interdiction and that includes their families are safe from these cowardly murderers. Does anyone here recall the bounty offered by a Mexican drug cartel not too many years back?? The bastids were offering $100,000 for each and every U.S. Law Enforcement badge (bloody ones were preferred) you brought them and bonus was paid if the badge happened to be Federal or State DEA!!! This was going on and the Mexican government knew it was and never uttered a peep!!!

| Senior Member | Drug gangs That's were all our money is! No wonder we have a cash shortage! jd1911 has a good idea, and if you check out other military firearms, you'll see the tank round that would work perfectly for the situation. People that sell them arms ought to get the death penalty on the spot, like cop killers, because it's premeditated capitol murder. 25 people are killed every day here by illegals. That more than Iraq. The terrorists are on our soil Mr president! Only traitors leave the doors open for the raiders |

| "Blazing Saddles" GOV ![]() | This is why I say to use that money to defend the border. We need to defend the border, militarily if necessary with no caveats. You shoot at me, I shoot back mentality. This would also give the DEA and Border Patrol equal footing when they run into drug smugglers with support from the "Mexican military"... Could you imagine how fast the well of drugs would dry up if the border was patrolled by the U.S. military with orders to engage and defend from drug traffickers? It is obvious that the Mexican Govt. will do nothing to stop the drug trade and it's deluge across the border. My guess is that they want it to at least get it out of their own country. In addition, I wonder what kind of death threats the leadership of Mexico or even their "a-hem" military gets if the interfere? |
