I have visited many gun forums and a few knife ones and have never found a snob on a gun one. How ever every knife forum has more than a few, strange but true. ![]() I wonder why?

They're on gun forums too. I was a moderator at gunforums. The same guy owns Knifeforums. Lotsa snobs there. Gunforums wasn't bad till he brought in KF members to help moderate it and they brought their snobbery and B.S. with them. Most of us mods and some long time members left because of that.

Knives are prettier and therefore status symbols to some people. I held a knife yesterday that had rubies in the handle. This was the guy's everyday carry knife. He just had to show it to me. He's a nice guy, not really a snob, but something tells me it is status for him to show people his everyday carry knife has rubies in the handle. Now, if someone pulls out a Taurus with a chrome finish and gold appointments, you think pimp daddy, not wow. I have never seen a gun with real rubies on the grip. Probably never will. And if I do, the guy probably won't be carrying it as his concealed carry piece. Or open carry. It's probably in a display case at his home or office. Now, after all that, I beg to differ. I have met more than a few gun snobs. Those who think this gun is it and nothing else should even be made. They are everywhere. HK people, Glock people, 1911 people, and Sig people are often guilty of this. Being a former Sig person and a current Glock person, I can say this. LOL! However, I understand the guy who owns a Hi Point. Why? Because some people just can't afford to dish out $900 on a gun but still need some form of home defense. And we've all been guilty of knocking on cheap guns. Sure, they suck, but you buy what you can afford to protect you and yours. It took me a year to buy my Glock, but I'm also not paying many bills. Some people just cannot save enough to buy an HK or Sig or Glock or 1911 because they have bills to pay and mouths to feed on a low wage. Yet we tend to knock on them for not "saving for better." Well, when you can't and the threat is now, you get what you can. Poor people deal with home invasions, too. Maybe us, as non-snobs, should think about that the next time we make fun of someone's Hi Point or Jennings. We know the difference between poor and cheap gangsta wanting a "lake gun." </rant>
