i think it's dispicable.

I certainly don't kill small animals for the fun of seeing them blow up. I only kill them for the food and enjoyment of the hunt.

I aim for the eye. That's all you need. If I can't make the shot, then I'm not close enough. I don't care if I'm using my revolver, I have the means to eat no matter what, so I use everything I know and have to be able to minimize suffering of my prey.
If you do it right, the animal doesn't know you are there, and they don't even have time to feel the shot.
That's the way I like to do it.
A survival situation would possibly be a little different.

Hey, andrew, would you like my recipe for Buck Chauncy's Squirrel Head Stew?
No joke, it's in a game cookbook I have, and I figure since you eat the whole squirrel, you'd have more use of it than I.

when i was younger my Grampa had a problum with Red squirrals tearing out the insalation out of his house and using in there dens so we use to shoot em with air rifles...amazing how tough they can get. I had one and i kid you not i literally had ripped half the head off with 2 shots with a 550 fps pellet gun and the dang thing was still alive it fell out of the tree thought it was dead ran over there and it was running in circles started pumping up the rifle and it stopped looked at me (with its one eye) and ran 10 feet down into a whole under the other tree. I to this day cant believe the dang thing lived through that. Im sure he didnt live much longer after he went down the whole but i meen come on half his dang head was GONE lol o and the air rifle i was using was an Crossman Pumpmaster 550 fps with a pellet and had a small 22 scope mounted on top. I cant remember exactly what it was.

I like squirrel, I like it a lot, I like it even more than venison most times. However, Squirrel heads I just don't think I could manage. Good luck to you and such a stew. If you survive it, please let's know how your recovery goes.

I'd have to vote for the head shot for a couple of reasons. 1 you don't mess up the meat too much and 2nd more challenging.
