Just bought a 10/22 and am debating putting a scope or red dot on it. My old eyes are not agreeing with the open sights.
I would like a fast target acquisition and fear that a scope will not give it to me.
Would anyone care to suggest a moderately priced red dot
If your poor old eyes are like mine a scope works better for accuracy. I have a red dot on my SKS and its works fine for close work but the magnification of a scope is nice.
I have one of these mounted on a .450 BLR and think it works great. Crosshairs and small dot for precise shooting, large dot and circle "X" type "turkey plex" for fast, close-in shooting.
I'd also like to add, as sirptrk already mentioned...that a decent low power scope like a 2-7x32 would also work well, especially if used with both eyes open at close rangeI own several of these scopes and think they are an excellent value:
I have a Red Dot sight. Originaly I had it mounted on my Rugerr M77/22 Hornet. My main purpose for this set up was Ptarmigan/fox/coyote. The Red Dot I found rather quickly was not suited to the task due to lack of magnification, it much better for near target use. I recommend you go with a 4x scope on your 10/22. I have my .22s set up with 4x scopes and I love it that way.
I found a Truglo red dot with 2x magnification at Cheaper than dirt $77
