It truly depends on your own opinion, What are you into? Do you like cowboy guns? Slow precision shooting? Or all out pumping lead into the air? A little of both? Henery rifles make beautiful guns, Savage makes affordable accurate rifles ( the working mans gun),and Remmington makes a great mid range guns. Since you are in north carolina will you make regular shots over 100 yards? Seems to me that there is alot of trees there and 50 to 75 yards average shot? I would take the 22 mag for your two choices, but a regular .22lr might do just as good.
