Why I love Mallard Fillmore comics

There is several days worth on this topic. I just love it. Thought some of you might like it to.

I love Mallard. The Red Star Tribune in Minn dropped him because it did not fit with their liberal crap. Next time they call and ask me to buy their paper I'm letting them have it over dropping him.

My newspaper prints Mallard Fillmore side-by-side with Doonesbury on a separate page from the other comics, probably for politically-correct "balance" as a sop to conservatives who cry about the liberal media. Although it occasionally gets off a good one, I'm not impressed with the strip most of the time.

The creator seems to believe that simply insulting liberals is funny, in and of itself; he's basically a political attack dog who can draw. I'm sorry; it takes more than that to be funny. Also, I've never yet seen him poke fun at anyone except those he labels as liberals.

Putting the two strips side by side simply emphasizes the difference between it and Doonesbury, which goes for funny first and just gets its political digs in along the way. I enjoy Trudeaus's strip just as much when he's deflating self-righteous, clueless liberals as I do when he's laughing at full-of-themselves conservatives.

I'm shocked the NC's News & Observer allowed the strip in, and even on the same page as the rest of the comics. But I'm loving it. Apparently the readers do, too, because I think it was originally a "guest comic" slot and suddenly it has been adopted.
