Bunny, I'm sorry you feel that way about northeast Kansas. I moved here from WA some 20 years back and I love it here. Great hunting and fishing. In my little town of 1000, people are warm and caring when you get to know them. Has your husband fished Melvern? I think it's the best for boating. Go Jay Hawks in the sweet 16!

The truly friendliest people I've met were in Minnesota. Within 6 months of moving there, I had more friends and neighbors that I could truly count on than I had from 30 years living in Alabama.

There's a difference between being friendly and being polite. Alabama is polite, but you better be sure they're talking about you as soon as you're out of earshot. Upper Midwest seems to be more upfront. Minnesota politeness is a little strange, but everyone I met was genuinely good people.
